The Shadow Experiment

This map took me forever to make, but mostly i was bored. I was experimenting with triggers and i found out some advanced triggers and used it to make this map. Inspired By Area 51. Any comments?

Anymore details? Please try to give some background to the map, such as, what style it is, what the player might expect, is it singleplayer, multiplayer.

I mean i take it to say this is an experimental map where you try new techniques. Is that true?

Yeah, it sounds interesting, though.

well, i played this yesterday, and its alright.

everything works properly but it needs something to spice it up. like have a seek and destroy trigger for the zerg or something. all they did was just sit there and let me blow them away. Maybe if you destroy an overlord, all the zerg in a 10x10 area around the ovie come charging at you. And you should consider making the walls more uniform, there were random doors everywhere.

another thing is balance too. The marine just plain blows in this, it has the stimpack and all but the ghost's range and cloak make it much better. It really needs more ammo too, at least 60-100 rounds. to make it more interesting, consider making the players blind so its harder to just stand out of their range and kill the zerg.

Here's a system I made for one of my old maps that you might want to try:

Trigger
Description:
Boss unit area setup
Players:
¤ Player controlling the "boss" unit
Conditions:
¤ Current player controls one "boss unit (may be an overlord in your case)"
Actions:
¤ Center location (about 12x12) labeled "Guard range" on "Boss unit" owned by current player at anywhere.
¤ Center location (3x3) labeled "Guard rush" on all units controlled by enemies at "Guard range"
¤ Center location labeled "Boss(air only location)" on "Boss unit" owned by current player at anywhere
¤ Preserve trigger

Trigger
Description:
Guard set up
Players:
¤ Player controlling guarding units
Conditions:
¤ Enemies bring at most 0 any unit to "Guard range"
Actions:
¤ Order all "Guard unit" owned by current player at "Guard range" to move to "Guard range"
¤ Set AI Script to Junk Yard Dog at "Boss(air only location)"
¤ Preserve trigger

Trigger
Description:
Boss guard defence
Players:
¤ Same player as before
Conditions:
¤ Enemies brings at least 1 unit to "Guard range"
¤ Current player controlls at least 1 "Boss unit"
Actions:
¤ Order all "Guard unit" owned by current player at "Guard range" to attack to "Guard rush"
¤ Order all "Boss unit" owned by current player at "Guard range" to move to "Guard rush"
¤ Preserve trigger

So you can make a bunch of units guard another unit. wink.gif

LoL deku, its an alright map, its almost like Area 51, but you made it better with the nice terrain and sounds... put you need to work on when a player brings there unit to the computer to unlock doors, you shouldn't give the players unit to player 7...

And you still haven't showed me the secrets in the Shadow Experiment 2!

This map sucks. The units just stand there, waiting to be shot.

Hertz the units don't just stand there... it has "some" AI but not much >.<
well its an alright map, and better than area 51 map. Area 51 map has some Glitches to it and it gets annoying

And deku why dont u add a "reset" button to ur map so if u all fail u dont have to rm just reset the map tongue.gif

That was a pretty cool map. I have to agree with some of these guys this is better then Area 51 which i awlays seem to get owned by the Aliens pinch.gif , ranting.gif
but on this map i actually won w00t.gif .
So good job yes it may have took a while to make a map like this but hey its worth it. Yes there some glitchs that i saw....or not glitchs like sometimes the aliens would run pass me when im not cloaked blink.gif confused.gif . Other then that i thought it was pretty cool.

This map is pretty dull...i Mean, exactly what hertz said. They sit there waiting to be Shot. and there should've been a Dropship system for items. I hate having to go back and heal when i get hurt -_- and Unless you have 5 People that are Good. The map is pretty impossible. and it Takes 5 Hours to download in game. so People almost never stay. Overall its an Ok map but it needs Alot of tweaking

Hmmm.... ForeverSin's Idea about a reset button might be a good idea. The problem is i have to reset the triggers too and all that other crap. And im not that good using switches but i might think about it. Thx, And im just glad people say its better than Area 51. Or well SOME people say. happy.gif
