ok.

1. make custom frames for the unit's GRP file.
2. add the frames (with right names) to the unit's GRP file

now i need help with running the new frames

Look at the way the original animations are done in Iscript, and follow the same pattern - that's the best thing I can suggest to you now. Also, don't forget about the 'Wait' opcodes and make sure you use the proper frame numbers, because the SC engine tends to add up to 17 to the original frame number for the turn-ed animations.

The manual is only for ICECC. It's very good. The only reason I still have ICE is that it lets me preview frames in sprites. Bear that in mind when using custom frames, since I think that ICE can load custom GRPs.

ditto, ice is preety good for beginners, especially when writing for play frames
that is easy better than ICECC
