Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Is United States a really free country?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kyuubi. on 2006-03-10 at 02:26:27
what do you think about the united states?i think sometimes we aren't free as we thought...yea the United States is a good country to live in, but i sometimes think the government goes too far, setting up more laws/act like 'the no child left behind'...everything we do comes from the federal government, and effects what we do...trying to make people more patriotic on the country, fighting in wars,etc...

anyway, they just put a lot of guidelines or certain things you can do...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rantent on 2006-03-10 at 02:43:03
The more they force us to be patriotic, the more people will stray from it.

Listen to Satisfied by J-Live, and you'll find my exact beliefs on the national subject.

From my experrience, the only place where the we aren't allowed to experience freedoms is during school. I see limitations all the time there, but that is simply district regulations, not national.

I think the more powerful & progressive a country is, the less freedom it's people have. Good example: if you come out with a poster "american democracy sux" in the street, you will probably have big problems with police & goverment, just cuz you expressed your thoughts.

If we switched to anarchy, all hell'd break loose. People here are used to chaos and have too bad of tempers.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Middle_Finger on 2006-03-10 at 13:09:22
In anarchy you will see things like...
-rapes
-pedophily
-murder
-nazism
-rasual discrimination
-robbery
All upper listed will lead to destruction of all systems, like...
-public transport
-sures
-electricyty
-clean water
-total distrucion of all factories & companies (exept weapon companies)
All this will lead to...
-hunger
-disease
-a country like that can be easyly conquered by another.
There was an example of that in New Orlean.
I cant say that goverment is good, but i CAN say, that without it it's much worser.

1. Massive generalization.

2. All that stuff already happens in perfectly stable countries.

I'd rather be cynical than be a sheep.

We don't live in a free country and we don't live in a democracy. We are a representative democracy with limited freedoms but we have more freedoms than many other countries have.

I find that very hard to believe. Almost every civilization throughout time has implemented some form of government. Any group of people that hasn't usually has been eradicated, assimilated (both of these two have usually been done by some civilization WITH a form of government), or evolved into insitituting a form of government. Without government, you'd get screwed over more than you would with one. happy.gif

No country is free. By recognizing a country you are living in a state where you agree (or in some cases not) to comply with specific laws and ideals and trust others to do so, that's what keeps a country stable in the long run. The real issue here is whether or not the government is of the United States is imposing too many laws and breaking its own Constitution by doing so.

No matter the situation, civilization fares much better when there are guidelines for the populace. Even tribal and family groups have their own rules or morals of what is permitted and what is not. Like most social animals, humans depend on the ability to trust others not to do some things and do others otherwise you do break down into anarachy.

Thinks of wolves. In an isolated pack of wolves, an alpha wolf develops. She is the leader of the pack. The other wolves follow her lead, and they're all expected to help while hunting. They're much more efficient. Without this kind of structure, the wolves separate and die off.

QUOTE
-nazism
Nazism wouldn't spring out of an anarchic state. Nazism was a political party that suggested qualities of socialism and a dictatorship. It's impossible to have Nazis start from anarachy because it contradicts the definition of what Nazism is.

You get true freedom with anarchy but get true hell as part of the package.

The USA is the greatest country in the world, so shut up.

Yes, that's the ticket. Discourage discussion. Perfectly in line with this being the Serious Discussion forum, and not Nationalist Masturbation.

yea, there are countries whose form of government differs from each one...such as eastern country on communism where things you worked for goes to the government but provides a living for you.

but in the united states, freedom would probably mean we could do anything we want(of course not everything in the human guidelines), i mean like practice religion without having much laws set upon it, and having more laws or guide limits on what we can do. anyone feel that government can control us what we can do and not do?

Governments are never going to be perfect. Quit your whining. This is about as good as they can come. I'm not saying, our government is great and something to behold. I'm saying, compare it to the other ones before you start biznatching about it.

Of course we are free, unlike communism, we can pick our job and own our own land, plus WE pick our leaders and have the choice of becoming a leader.

Most of the rights in the documents of the U.S. are not absolute. The U.S. isn't really as free as it can be, but of course, if there was absolute freedom, criminals would take advantage of it.

Dont forget, a fair amount of these things already exist.

No. US is more likely a capitalist society. No country is ever free or it would be called rather a Utopia. Unfortunately, the closest thing to this free country is right now nowhere. Censorship governs all saying. Capitalism slows down everything, and Anarchy isn't free, it is very costly to get there and to keep it is another thing.

The united states might not be as free as people want it to be, but I can't think of any other country freer than the United States.

Becuase we can and did do more things the other countries did/can.

Yes. But under rules. Basically we are free from the government, but we aren't free of doing anything we want. Because...IF we do anything we want, we wouldn't exist anymore.
