In general, is the overall quality of video games better than stuff from say, the days of SNES and before?

The overall quality? No, there are good games today and good games back then. Bad games now and bad games then.

No. Overall, now the good games are way better then any games back then, but the classics never die out.

Yes, with what they had to work with, there games pwn ours in originality.

Now most of them are built with engines and all look similar.

Plus I'm just getting sick of first person shooters. disgust.gif

I would have to agree that, overall, classic games are better. Not that there arn't some utterly awesome games that are new, but most of the best games out there are pretty old now. Half-life 2 is an example of utter awesomeness thats also new. Origionality, not age, determines the quality of a game for me, but overall, I would bet that the most origional games are the older ones.

I myself would have to say sometimes. It would depend on the game, or what series the game came from. I myself dont look at how bad the graphics are, only how the storyline was and if was improved or had been turned worst.

I voted yes.

All of my favorite games are at least 8 or more years old. Not that there aren't newer ones that I like, but the oldies are called "classics" for a reason.
