Windows XP is officially running on Intel-based Macs, thanks to some clever work by a coder called "narf" who tweaked Windows installation files. Narf takes home donations of around $14,000 for his trouble, contributed to a site called
Windows XP on Mac by users hankering for a useable hybrid machine.
SourceI dont care. Im still using WinXP.
Intel sucks in the first place. AMD + Windows ftw!
It's always been possible to run any OS on any computer, the problem is the BIOS that each computer is initially installed with may or may not be fully compatible with some OS.
I really see some good out of such an achievement, this will mean that more people may buy Macs if they would prefer using Apple's computers, but with WinXP.
I wouldn't say that Jobs is screwed, it's Bill Gates that should start to shiver with this ne wpotential for Mac.
I've seen this before. I think I've seen Mac 10.4 Panther or something on a windows based computer. That's pretty cool though. I wonder what will come from this. I'd still rather use the Mac OS though, it's so cool.
Good opportunity to bring up
this video (watch the whole thing).
Completely inaccurate error screen. A kernel problem causes the screen to go grey and a text box prompting you to restart appears, or alternatively, there are some lines of code that are highlighted black.
Macs are good hardware but they are insanely overpriced, I dont see myself ever buying one.
I really couldn't care more. I don't think that this really works unless your computer is designed to fit into this hybrid system. I also don't have the stuff needed. I only have XP.

Yeah, they're really overpriced. The only Mac I'd be willing to get is a Mac mini, because it's so small, and it doesn't cost too much.
Just a question, but what are Macs really for?
^Being a classy alternative to rampant viruses (there are ~1,500 known viruses for Windows, none for OSX) and the truely disgraceful interface that is Windows.
Norton Internet Securities 2006 + StyleXP or WindowBlinds = gg.
Are there any other reasons? What do they excell at?
Not really interested in the news. However, good job for Windows XP.
Its like chocolate strawberries. Stupid. Either you go all the way with the choclate or stay with the strawberry.
How about I just stay on my Mac.

Get a sense of humor.

Seem that comercial on television, pretty "cool" in a senes. I don't really care at all about this news. Good job with getting Windows XP to run on Macs...
That is really interesting. See i would never get a mac because it has such little potential. You might as well just get a real computer. See if your in the neighbourhood just looking for somthing that works, sure. but i think the PC is best all around. BUt great news about xp and mac

.
i shall be cynical and say wtf.
if you want winxp, get windows...
if you want to use a mac...just use the mac os whatever it comes with...
lol noooo must use mac....cant leave windows...
heck throw in red hat linux into the mix
not really. Bill gates is the one making the XP right? then its both profit for them.
If XP can run on an Apple computer, then Apple may sell more machines to those accustomed to Windows. At least that's assuming the thing to run XP stays viable.
