In starforge I was looking through the wavs from starcraft, and if you go to StarDat, Terran, then Bldng (something like that), they are the building sounds when you click them in the game, but the third to last one is one I never heard.. Maybe they removed the building but forgot to remove the sound in Beta versions?
Attached the sound:
why does it sound strangely familiar?
Yeah... reminds me of warcraft...
I'm confused and frightened.
My idea of what it is;
Some kind of prison, or a guardplace or something..
(Could be the guard whistling)
maybe a prison and also a shower sence oh crap bad images oh crap
That's because it IS warcraft. I dunno from what, but when Starcraft was made, leftover Warcraft crap was there. Warcraft ranks(tbl data), Warcraft units(tbl data), warcraft sounds, warcraft

, etc.
Heh, so what building is it from? (In warcraft)
The sound is not from WarCraft. That sound is for the Terran Repair Bay, that was removed before release.
i got scared when i heard it..
good thing they decided to keep it out of the game then.. would be cool with a terran repair bay tough...
We could get stuff that is in the SC CD, but was never released (from the beta) and make an archive. There are lots of things, sounds, wireframes, unit images, portraits, unit names, icons, etc...
Did you ever noticed that the "Build Machine Shop" icon is the beta one? Or that the beacons icons in staredit are the beta ones?
I see things like that all the time. Theres a bunch of unused sounds for units and everything.
That sounds is freaky...kinda sounds like that repair bay at the end u hear some kind of mechanics. and whislting...weird..

EDIT:I just saw at some page the beta version of Starcraft...and i also noticed that in X-tra editor those weird building icons like on the one in Special-mode(weird looking Spire) are some beta verions of SC..some removed.
I just went through Starforge's sounds and I found some interesting stuff.
The reaver was called Trilobyte
The observer was called witness and when you piss it off you can hear familiar voices from Diablo1.
The 3rd to last protoss building is not in the game.
The wraith was called a Phoenix.
The Infested Terran was called Bugguy.
The Scourge was called Avenger.
Mutalisk was called Mutalid.
And the terran Building which you said.
That's my little research.
I also saw alot of crap as well....some bullet sounds from protoss and zerg do not come out in the game...and yeah a reaver was called a trilobyte O_o and 1 sound(actually, 2)sounds of toss i think are not in t3h game..hear it
[SUB]goto Music Folder in Broodwar Directory and check out "pvict" It's from War2. Might be a good addition to A medievel Themed map. Also Notice in the Valkyrie's sounds there are still the sounds for the Afterburner ability. I wonder why blizz took that out anyway, it looked promising.
a terran repair bay!?!?!?!?!?!? man, that sounds awesome.... what was it supposed to do!?!?!?!?
Repair units obviously. Now the SCV does it all.
I don't think the Reaver was going to be called a Triylobe. Thats just what Blizzard called them. Exe: Bunker=Pillbox. If you've done any mod work you know what im talking about.
Yes, Beerkeg, and the obsverver was called a witness and an infested terran was called a "bugguy" and so on and so on. All you have to do is extract the .grps from StarDat.mpq and you will find all these funny names.
Damn, I was about to quote him and say that, DT... CURSE YOU! lol
Anyways, weird.
I don't care though.

There isnt any "pvict" sound in mine.. please post it..
Someone already made a mod like what you're talking about. It's called mercinary legion and (sort of) uses a lot of old thrown out beta units like the independents to TC protoss. The creator is a moron, and in addition to never making any real progress in balancing it, also gave up the project.
if you get the BWSoundUtility it has a file that says all the used and unused sound files
