Does anyone know what ther best download is for a website designer!

I want it to be free, but have a lot of options, Like maybe some templates and stuff!

Because I like making websites and I have made a few and I have one thats done but not so good because it is made by frontpage which has nothing good on it!

The FrontPage that costs 100 dollars may be good but I aint spending money on something that they'll just come out with a new one in a year or so!!

So does anyone know of any good downloadable Web Site Designer that doesnt cost any money!!!!

If so, PLease tell!!!!

well you can try looking in the creative>programming and websites forum page...
there are a few good free ones...but most of them time they'll put unwanted things to make it free like ads...

but anyway...most of the people i used got popular with angelfire, tripod, and bravehost...i'm not sure if they're good or not, but they are popular with my friends, but you can check it out

If you're looking for a graphic editor (most likely), then I expect your only real choices are Microsoft Frontpage or Macromedia Dreamweaver (Try free trial). Other then that, Yahoo has an online thing for geocities (first one I used before I realized it sucked and learned HTML tongue.gif), but if you want a word-based website designer program I would advise PSPad. It's very nice, in some places I enjoy it more then Dreamweaver. Or you can try the first editor I did, Webniac. It's basic, but has enough to get people started.

Wordpad works nicely too.

Notepad does good, you just need to know HTML and possably CSS.
Webpage designing programs like to add useless things that just make them bigger (every byte counts).

Just use notepad. It's not like HTML/JavaScript/CSS are so complicated that you need a fancy GUI to understand each and make web pages. If you are unsure about something... http://www.w3schools.com

Dude... Frontpage = shiz.

Dreamweaver. Go for that if you're going to look for GUIs

But use notepad man. HTML/JavaScript/PHP/CSS are not hard at all.

yeah, notepad is good for quick editing...

but for me, i think photoshop + dreamweaver is essential.

If that's true I can start worshipping you soon tongue.gif. I learned (or started) 7'th grade happy.gif.

To make an uber site, you need to learn:
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Javascript
  • PHP
  • Photoshop
  • Flash

HTML can be replaced with XHTML, Javascript can be replaced with VBscript, and PHP can be replaced with another server-side programming language, but from what I know that is the best combination of things you need to make your site anything you want if mastered.
