So... anyone got any plans for this year? Last year was ownage.

If not, I'll invent something around some of these lame ideas that I will make into numerous posts in the Staff Forum saying: "ROFL, I CANT BELIEVE THEY FELL FOR IT!".

1) Someone hacked the site
2) Technical problems owned SeN
3) Someone important (Moose) got fired
4) Yoshi comes back... again... (I'll need to speak to him though)
5) We hire Kellimus as Global Mod (Just color his name like an Global Mod)
6) SeNv5 canceled
7) Change the theme of the site to something like warcraft
8) shiz... I'm running out of ideas
9) Bleh, you noobs should get into the April Fool's spirit! I was thinking for like 10 minutes after #8, so I had to write this.

Some xtremely lame ideas:

8) Temporarily have every file/tutorial/etc in the DLDB disfunctional.
9) Someone make a new account and we make that account a site administrator or global moderator.
10) Say IP is in financial crisis and can no longer pay for the website for the next few years.
bleh...

But I really like the kellimus one and the SENv5 one

Could always just design a logo for sen at front page saying something like FBI has shut down SEN for hosting illy files that were banned by blizzard and SEN Staff members are now being hunted down by FBI or something mah who knows.

I think I'll retire because I'm such a "bad admin". DEAD knows he can do much better. Kellimus would make an excellent global mod as well.

This one's stolen from SME, not like anyone goes there.

Code a [me] tag so that it displays the name of the member reading it, and then make a news post that is something like:

We here are fed up with [me]'s behavior and will terminate his account soon.

Me like that idea. (tongue.gif)

I could actually release uBe3 0.01 Beta on that day and people will think it's a joke?

There was a [me] tag or something before, wasn't there?

Moose got fired for sexually harassing me. I'm really a hot chick.

That actually happened though. But it was OK because you wanted it. eek.gif

Well, bring back the [me] tag tongue.gif

There was a "/me" function, but that's different. I mean a [me] tag so if I read [me] owns, it says DT_Battlekruser owns, but if yoshi reads it, it says Yoshi da Sniper owns.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2006-03-24 at 09:35:09
The problem with the [me] function is that it's very good at frist glance, butt hen people will start posting and will msot probably figure it out in a few hours when people start saying that it is himself/herself being banned.

Clokr_ did the same thing last year with the "Auto-Modder". Even though hardly anyone remembers, I think it would be cheezy to do the same stunt again.

We don't have to say that they have been banned. Make some post about how we want them to defend themself or hold some sort of talks or we will ban them.

Temporarily disabling the site as a April Fool's joke that someone hacked the site as an April Fool's joke is like burning down your own house.

Go with the [me] tag.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2006-03-24 at 17:49:22
I dont think we should use the [me] tag thing. Some people might immediately realize that it's just a joke. We want something which'll scare or really shock people. So I say SENv5 being cancelled is very very believable. Everyone know's that it's been taking forever to get that out and if we make an announcement saying something about it getting cancelled because of some very believable reason, it'll truly shock everyone; nobody would suspect that it would be an april fools joke.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-03-24 at 18:55:35
You'd be surprised how long it takes. We'd have to come up with something clever when a guest is viewing it, though. April Fools jokes are jokes, after all.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2006-03-24 at 19:50:18
Yea but, if we make a post or something with the [me] tag, the first person to respond would be like "WTF!? WTF DID I DO?" Then the second person would be "Wtf are you talking about... It's MY name that's there, not yours." Then a couple people later, people would realize that it is the [me] tag. So yes it is a joke, but only the first few would receive the "full brunt" of the effect. Whereas with the SENv5 being disabled, we can shock lots of people, and by the time we think enough people are distraught or surprised by this news, we can then yell APRIL FOOLS!!!

He's absolutely right... which is why it's not somethign I want to do. It would turn off new guests completely and they'd never visit again. As far as SENv5 related issues, I want to re-hype senv5 up again, not down play it (and I do realize it's my fault for letting v5 get hyped and then leaving for 2+ months).

How about giving 1337 minerals to everyone and then deleting them on the same day?

Well, we don't have to say that SENv5 is deleted or just stopped period or something. We can say something like "there's a huge error in ever page and thus major recoding would have to occur, thus delaying SENv5 even longer." But I dunno, w/e

The problem with faking a hacking of the site is that you have to hack the site in order to fake it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2006-03-24 at 21:07:46
I wasn't talking about fake hacking SEN. I was talking about just teling people that the SENv5 project has a huge problem and must be delayed (and to make this a little more convinceable, we can lockdown the senv5 beta testing forum and make it read-only)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2006-03-24 at 22:57:36
I just don't think many people would be fooled if it's that obvious though. They can't see it coming, there has to be something to distract them from the date being April 1st...

Hack the calendar! Haha.

That one actualy sounds pretty good.

Actualy, Yoshi had done that once - I believe it was the "[you]" tag. He introduced it by making a News Thread staying that [you] has been such a good member and such that Yoshi personally congratulates you, etc etc. As he apparently intended, after a few posts, people figured out what was going on, but he soon removed it because the only use it had was for jokes, and that would get old fast.

Hey, if that goes unused, I suppose that neither would mind if I sigged it?

Wouldn't it be possible to set it such that only users within the Administrator usergroup can use it?
