Staredit Network -> Staff Lounge -> Poor Anger Management

Now people have many different reasons why people would flame on this site or anywhere else in general. But as for me, I believe that the reason people flame on this site and as well as anywhere else is ALWAYS because of lack of anger management.

Why do people flame? Because you either really are a cruel guy and belittle a certain person or you just feel as though you need to "get back" at a person because you've been provoked or irritated. The second one is the one that occurs most often. Everyone has a certain limit (most of have very little tongue.gif) and once it's breached, you probably can't control yourself and you just want to attack that person, whether it be extreme as to flaming or just provoking words or just very bad tone in their posts. However, I do not believe everyone can learn to increase it.

Talk about lack of courtesy. I believe we need to get everyone on this site to be a little more respectful to each other in their posts and always have a good tone. If you've been provoked somehow in anyway, try not to make your post sound angry or rude. Flaming back is already established as wrong, but 99% of the time when an argument is about to heat up, people end up acting disrespectful and/or begin sutly attacking each other (but not to the level of flaming) or just having an aggressive tone with their posts.
Look at some people like (U)Bolt_Head. He's always respectful of people and when he is somehow attacked or something, he still keeps his cool and still keeps his posts with a normal tone. I believe everyone should learn to be like him.

So if someone is somehow "poked" by another person, he should contain his anger and still keep to a normal tone in his post. It's hard for many but it's also a necessary skill in the real world. By doing this, you can also help even further develop your maturity.

What do you guys think?

Way life is, kids these days are brought up in a messed up way dont need show respect to others even so someone gives it you kinda expect it back, but doubt you'll get it. People like Bolt_head are rare. What can you do about it? Warn em, sure that wont do much and telling them doenst help. I guess were doomed to be with disrespectedful kids / teens.

I been to Anger managment, a damn headache!!

Millennium's theory has logic and to most of it's extent, it is true. The problem with having everyone post in a normal or better put, neutral tone, is that over half the people that are currently active on the site don't listen. Then we have another large percentage, that will listen, but will only act if other people act up.

I for one have only flamed once on this site and the reason was that people ask for something, we gave them a chance and they blew it. Afterwards they whine about how we don't give them chances.

The main problem I see is that people don't respect anyone except close friends, today. The only way I see such a thing happening is for us to be very aggresive on site's rules and policies.

I would've posted this in the LD forum but I figured that it would be useless.

For one, many people won't listen. And eventually, people would start pointing fingers at each other, which would stir up even more turbulence.

And mainly, it has to do with the lack of maturity (not immaturity; there's a difference there) amongst many of our members. They claim that they're mature, but if they're so mature, how come they don't contain it and choose to instead unleash their anger so they can make a "comeback" at someone else? Grown-ups and older teans don't do that; only immature kids do.

I posted this article in Null a while ago. Don't think many people read it though.

Yea, I remembered that.

But no matter how much reason we shove into them, they just simply go on with their old bad habits.

ADDITION:
This thread is a perfect example of what I'm talking about:

I guess Gfist is more aggressive, but if Zombie feels threatened, he would report.

The way I see it is that it's ultimately our fault if we feel mad, happy, sad, etc. Who else can control our emotions?

Compared to places like Warboards.org (check out the strategy sections), this place is peaceful. I'm grateful.

Everyone should concentrate more on mapping and less on talking in the forums. But they don't.

Exactly what i've said in my "Stop it guys" thread a while back. Golden-fist and Deathawk were the only ones that didn't listen (mainly golden-fist)
