Since battle.net ignores our connection attempt to get player's stats, I simply disabled it. Hopefully it'll lessen the server load as well.

In another part of SEN, I re-enabled the automatic task that updates the statistics and fixed a couple bugs with it. A few of you are edging close to 10,000 shouts:

It lessens the server bandwith by quite a lot. Imagine having the same piece of code running every 5 minutes or so so every single member.

If you add a code that shows how much shouts a specific person has, will that imcrease the serevr bandwidth and make the site a little slower?

What? I think you are a bit confused...

Adding something like # of shouts is a rather insignificant amount of bandwidth...

However, the profiles code opened up a connection to blizzard. I remember Tyler said one of our server problems one time was too many tcp connections open... well, maybe the profiles was part of the problem. Anyways, it doesn't matter... it doesn't work anymore so it might as well as be removed

I have no idea how to get php to open an account on blizzard with a serial key, but player stats aren't really important, considering they really don't show or prove anything (especially for us ums players).

I'd be interested in knowing how much it reduces the server load, but I'm sure not much.

The code was written by me and is like 100000% better than the previous mod yoshi used, written by Dean. In fact, the last update he installed wouldn't work at all because it took 30+ seconds to execute, causing a server time-out. I disabled mine when the server was having a bunch of problems, constantly. I re-enabled it because the server is doing a lot better lately, and I reduced the amount it updates.

Well, the admin probably can script it or something, but right now, it's set so only top 10 people are shown.

Nothing special about being on those lists, 90% of the posts it takes to make it there are useless and in the Other section. I guess I'm biased because I tend to skip the topics in Null, LD, and SD unlike before when I posted there frequently.

Wow, maybe if I had some 10,000 shouts I would find some bugs like Farty lol. I think it would be inevitable.
