Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Unit Stats

Okay, so I'm not good at balance. I have an RPG, and I need to have balanced units for the players. The units have seperate healths, armors, attacks, and attack bonuses. By the way, this is for a "Nintendo RPG", so I am using Nintendo characters.

Firebat (Mario of Super Mario Bros.)

Life- Moderate
Attack- Moderate
Armor- Sub-Moderate
Attack Bonus- Slightly above Moderate

Marine (Samus of Metroid)

Life- Moderate-High
Attack- Very High
Armor- Above Moderate
Attack Bonus- Low

Dark Templar (Meta-Knight of Kirby's Adventure, Nightmare in Dreamland)

Life- Sub-Moderate
Attack- Moderate
Armor- Low
Attack Bonus- High

Zealot (Link of The Legend of Zelda)

Life- Low
Attack- High
Armor- High
Bonus- Moderate

Please note that I wish for the life to be between 80-200 for the characters, and for attacks to be enough to wipe out Enemies with gradually growing lifes and armors, from a low 35 life to a whopping 350 life, from 0 armor to 10+10 armor.

I'd suggest Samus is a Ghost, but w/e.
Erm... I'll post what I think'd be nice when I have time.
EDIT: Alright, here we go...
Actualy, nvm on that.
Really, I think that Samus, being a rapid-fire, ranged unit, should have Moderate-Low damage, while Mario has High damage. That's just my opinion. And that Meta-Knight have a high attack too =D MetaKnight's cool...

You also have to remember how long takes unit to reach a its target so ghost vs zealot, 2 shots before zealot in range with ghost and Ghost does full dmg to Zealot yea need keep this stuff in mind.

Well, most of the higher level enemies take about 4 shots to kill anyways, the members of the team have to get through the maze they're put in within a time limit, which usually means that if all members stay together, they'll usually lose and have to start the next level without buying upgrades.

Well, Samus is a totally unupgraded Marine who gets the worst upgrades for attack power, so...
Mario with at least a Above Moderate attack should work, but not a High attack. He'll be able to totally wipe out weak forces in a single blow if he's like that.

That's why his upgrade is Very High, so he doesn't need an initially high attack.

Amen to that.

Firebat (Mario of Super Mario Bros.)
Life- 160
Attack- 16 (2x=32)
Armor- 2
Attack Bonus- +3 (2x=+6)

Marine (Samus of Metroid)
Life- 180
Attack- 20
Armor- 3
Attack Bonus- +2

Dark Templar (Meta-Knight of Kirby's Adventure, Nightmare in Dreamland)
Life- 110
Attack- 17
Armor- 0
Attack Bonus- +7

Zealot (Link of The Legend of Zelda)
Life- 80
Attack- 11 (2x=22)
Armor- 4
Bonus- +2 (2x=+4)

I would try these stats in some test runs, then adjust. I didn't really try to balance based on unit, but instead of your guidelines of moderate, high, etc. You'll definitely need to do some adjusting.

You would have to put into consideration speed.

In my RPG to make attacks balanced i would use this dmg/sec
IE: I will time or look for the seconds of cooldown.
I would then divide by the amount of damage i want.
Example:
I want 20 dmg/sec.

Ghost attack every 2 secs
marine every 1 sec

Ghost attack of 40+2
Marine attack of 20+1

This is only an example, and those are not the real times.
Should work fine.

The time it takes for a unit to get in range.

Say zealot have 3 secs of beign attacked before it goes in range.
Zealot lose 25 hp per sec.
Make it so when zealot reach the target both have same hp.

IE: Zealot 200 HP
Ghost 125 Hp

Ghost hits zealot three times and zealot have 125 now.

If you can follow these two principles then your map is balanced.

Oh comeone... can't you use relative movement and a dropship system to controll link? You know like a Link to the Past? You would unload a unit to swing your sword, do the dash thing, use special items, etc etc.

Well, you DO use a dropship for special items and abilities of ALL characters, so...
