Just when we all thought March was going to end. The idea is to set a common theme and a bunch of rules and judging criteria tailored to it. The winner is the one who makes the best map featuring the theme. Now, I'm not asking for anything big, as you'll only have
one week to make your map. Maps will be judged by me or anyone I deem fit to judge the maps.
March's Theme:
Drug Induced HallucinationsHere's a fun one. Basically, your map will involve drugs and the effects of such drugs. This obviously implies there will be more emphasis on aesthetics (look and feel) than last month's contest. Real drugs, fantasy drugs, dependancy RPG, whatever. Just get me to feel out of my mind. Guidelines» Must be an original map not made prior to the contest. Steal a map or send in an old one and I'll eat your children.
» No map dimensions larger than 96x96.
» No map over 500kb.
» Any number of players acceptable.
» No team projects.
» You may submit up to three entries, but only the highest scoring entry will be placed and recieve a prize.
» No entry fees.
» Feel free to protect your map. The playing end will be emphasized more than the creation end.
Maps will not be accepted after 12:01 AM EST on April 9, 2006.Judging CriteriaTheme (10) - Obviously this is the name of the game. If the map isn't even remotely related to the theme, it won't score very well. A map scoring 0 on this won't be graded further. Something that looks premade and just custom fit with a few text messages won't score very well.
Fun (20) - Important for me as I'm playing the map. Am I running around having a good time, or watching a unit talk to itself in a movie? If I ever go to this map again, is it going to be to play it with friends or to delete the scm/scx? This is probably going to be the deciding factor in contest entries.
Aesthetics and Professionalism (20) - Did you use one type of tile and no text color? Are there mispellings distracting me at every turn with some poorly made triggers? Hopefully you can create something that looks and feels decent. I'm not asking for extensive extended terrain or hundreds of sprites, a map with a unique feel to it should score at least an easy 10.
PrizesYeah, you thought I'd just make you do this for fun? Prestiege? Honor? HAH!
