Pictures that shook the world; Mohammad al-Durra, 12 year old, died huddled in his father's arms' caught in a hail of Israeli bullets and captured by a viewfinder of a television camera in a shocking scene viewed all over the world. Amid a welter of brutal scenes from street battles that have swept the West Bank and Gaza Strip since September 28, 2000, the boy's death was a singularly horrific one.

Television footage shot by French TV during Saturday's pitched battle outside the heavily guarded Israeli settlement of Netzarim showed Mohammed clinging to his father, Jamal, and screaming in terror as a sustained burst of gunfire raked a concrete wall behind them. As the two huddled behind a tiny abutment, the father vainly stretched a protective arm in front of his son. Most stations that aired the footage cut away before the stricken boy could be seen slumping over, loosing his grip on the father, who himself twitched convulsively as he was struck by round after round.

I like the Civil Disobedience ones. The war, violence, etc. ones don't really evoke many emotions from me.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kashmir on 2006-04-02 at 05:06:12
Well when i looked at them initially, I was listening to "Beatles - Let it be" and "John Lennon - Imagine"

I actually cried during some of them. I have a ton more, but was taking too long to get image shack to put them on. Will probably tomorrow or next weekend.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Demaris on 2006-04-02 at 05:12:12

I'm pretty callous and desensitized to violence. fark you Media. fark you.

I hate how stirring pictures like these are taboo in society because they are "unpleasant". The problem is, people don't like to think, especially about consequences. These pictures force them to.

I'm mostly shielded to pictures like these... unless theres sad music to them for some odd reason. Music really gets me thinking.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. A word is worth a thousand emotions. An emotions is cause for action.

Yeah another America sucks thread.

I wondor where the Soviet Union pics are, the Cambodia pics are, the Guatamala pics are, the Colombia pics are, the Iran pics, the Africa pics, the China pics, etc...

Trust me, we may have done bad things, but other countries are FAR worse.

PS, I have seen some of those same pics with a different descripion.

uh if you didn't notice, there are pics other then america. This is not an america sucks. This is the human race sucks. This is a powerful pics throughout history thread. Post those images. Currently i'm making a movie of them along to songs. I have many more pics then were posted due to sen sucking so much and not allowing me to post a lot of images per post.

Why not? because they show what is really happening out there? While you may be confined to reality where the most you will have to deal with is maybe living at a shelter, these people are having their houses bombed, being tortured, being murdered, and starving. The worlds much bigger then news tends to tell you.

I completely agree with you that it is a reality. I can see how many people died for these. But these are so offensive. Especially the vietnam massacre and genocide pictures.

But I am glad to say somebody posted this.

I despise the people that hate wars and such, especially when they don't look at both sides of the image.

Many people blame George Bush for many of these acts, but he has almost nothing to do with this. He did not order anyone to do such a thing, all that the President has power to do is to send those soldiers into those countries, he cannot declare war, only Congress can declare war.

You've posted pictures of third world countries, saying that everybody else is bad. Why don't you post pictures of these such acts happening in your own country. Place a picture of a gangter shootout in LA, post a picture of a horrific car accident cause by what? a drunk driver?.

I've seen such things before, and they aren't as bad as it seems. On Thursday, in the Puerto Rico Capitol, mobs broke in and broke all sorts of things including the pedestal that holds the original documents of our Constitution, they almost stole our Constitution. On Friday, they threw rocks at our Governor's limousine, every day, on the news, I hear of over 5 murders, in a country of less than 3 million people. Including all the states in the US, we are the ones with the highest murders per capita. I went into a Burger King once, and saw everyone in panic, I looked outside and saw 3 men running, then, behind the counter, I see an employee that was shot.

I say this: why don't you post pictures of your own country? If it wasn't for war, your country would not exist, if it wasn't for blood, you would not speak english, if it wasn't for torture, you would not be a Christian, if it wasn't for guns, the civilized continent we know today would not exist.

These things happen every day and will continue to happen every day. Nothing anyone can do about it, nothing Bush can do about, nothing the US soldier can do about it, nothing you can do about it.

The fact that you've never seen such things before in your life, makes it seem "horrific, horrible and unhuman" to you. But go ask the people who live right in the scene.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2006-04-02 at 13:14:51
Every set of photos like that has a propaganda message, be it for those who support wars, or those who oppose them. This set is no different and has little effect on me except to make me irritated at politics.

I also agree partially with what Beer said.

Wars aren't inhuman, by the way. It's been a human tradition since before ancient times so it's hardly unnatural. Still, I don't like it and I wouldn't want to be caught up in one, but you have to accept that it happens.

Conflict seems to come as naturally to humans as eating, sleeping or having sex. Why do you think wargames are so popular on computers and consoles, or games like paintball in real life? Even if we're not actually killing people, then we're pretending to or making a game out of it.

Chill the hell out.
I have no pictures of things in america. HENCE WHY I SAID TO POST YOUR OWN. god the ignorance of some people. BTW, I would rather be british then have the blood of innocents on our hands. I would actually rather speak german. ADN I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN. Thank you very much. Also if you didn't notice, there are images of american soldiers. Whether America or no, it is still us doing it and/or dying. Don't tell me i have never seen horrific things in my life, for that is a total lie. I've seen people die by shootings. I've seen someone's insides completely outside their body (albiet it was in a hospital.) I wasn't trying to evoke emotion because of the blood, or the dead people, but by the fact that this is OUR doing. Humanities doing. Albiet America had a lot to do with majority of the wars up there, it is still humanities fault. For cherishing money over human life.

That photo up there, with the "and babies" question and answer. That was Americans that lined them up, and shot them. Even the babies. I can't forgive, and I won't forget.

The rest, was morely directed at society.

Yes, it was wrongfull of me to say it so directly in the second part of my first sentence, but given the ambient of where those pictures are from, that is the interpretation we get: "That Americans are here to liberate".
