One thing that's constantly bothered me is how everyone so absurdly strongly associates a twisted '+'(known, for this purpose, as the 'swastika', or more commonly and less technicaly, the 'Nazi sign') with the Nazis. Besides the fact that it's a Asian sign of goodluck in certain areas, it's actualy based off of a Norse rune. But if I were to make an avatar with such a symbol in it, what would happen? 'OMGOMGOMG EZ IS A NAZI OMGWTF YOU HATE JEWS YOUR RACIST!!!'. Disregard the fact that maybe, just MAYBE there are a some people that just like the shape, just as some like the yin-yang, spiral, 'vortex', circles, sunbursts, knots, and waves.
And why don't we do this with the hammer and sickle, or the flags or symbols of any communist or fascist countries?
... Eh', my 'rant's' over...

Yeah, I remember DEAD having this, and everybody complaining, even me.

More often then not, the people who have use this sign use it to show their nazi pride.

You can only hate on it. Which in doubt is being predudice. Which isn't a bad thing just you can't force someone to think a certain way. I don't like or agree with it in any way. It really doesn't benefit anything/anyone. I would hope people who are under the influence of this, From parents or w/e. Change there minds and understand it's wrong..sad.gif.

For clarification, it's an Aryan Hindu good-luck symbol.

I thought the hindu one or whatever was backwards from the Nazi one, so having a regular swastika (and explaining its not the Nazi one) will not get anyone to call you a Nazi.
I don't get what your saying about the commie's stuff.

Even if it is a Good-Luck symbol, it will forever be assiocated with the Nazis of World War II, and even the Neo-Nazis of today. I understand that you want to use it to show it for it's true meaning as a good-luck charm, but people will forever assiocate it with the Nazis. sorry, thats just the way the world works sometimes.

Edit: The reason we don't do this with the hammer and sickle, or other communist countires is because they didn't kill millions of people because they weren't the perfect race.

Yeah, I'd understand, but my first association would be with the Nazi's =(

Why do people think like that? I dunno. Then again, all of the use of it in like, say, school textbooks, and history and tv, it always sorta represents something bad. When's the last time you saw it used as Aryan good luck?

Didn't some guy, like a few months ago, use to have a Hitler and a Swastika for his signature and shiznit? And everyone just biatched at him and then he finally changed it?

you shouldn't use the nazi sign cuz it will offend people who's parents were killed by them + nazism was defind as world-wide evil, that all should be avoided.

if someone makes an avatar like taht it will show how:
-stupid
-childish
-disrespectful
that person is.

& about the USSR symbol...

yes, they allso killed people in the UUSR, but it was "flowers" compared to waht happened in the german "camps of death".

the nazi sign came from some culture (don't remember witch) & it symbolized eternity in that culture. Hitler turned it to the right on 45 degrees. if you make an avatar that means "eternity" that would be not so bad as the nazi one, but still, a smart person will try to avoid doing making himself taht "eternity" avatar.

I had to.

Edit: IDIOT, they killed millions of more Russians in Russia than Germany killed JEWS, Stalin MURDERED his people. They FOUND ENTIRE PITS filled with peasant bodies. I'm sure they didn't find German Body pits?

Ya, because if you use it for anything else then that's what people think you're doing anyways...

Ah, thanks. I never really researched it much.

I don't get what your saying about the commie's stuff.

Well, from what I understand, the Nazis actualy flipped it around a couple of times, so either direction would still be considered a 'Swastika', and hey, if people still regularly call it a 'Nazi sign', what are the odds that people are going to notice that it's facing such a direction as not to, technicaly, be a swastika?

Don't know, but I DO remember that the last time I saw someone use it for something other than a Swastika was a few weeks ago.

And they should learn that it's not necesarily a swastika.

By making an avatar that includes a strictly-artistic twisted 'x' I'm looking stupid, childish, and disrespectful? I'm failing to see how that works.

Norse, if I remember correctly.

yes, they killed people in the USSR... many people. the nazy wanted to eliminate the jewish culture totally, they shot, burned, put them in gas cameras. what was in the USSR ? people were working as slaves on hard work, many died, yes, there were repressions, but it WAS JUST DICTATORSHIP, they had no goal of destroying a cilture. many dictators killed many people, but most of them killed just to keep the people in fear, & not to destroy a culture.

oh, the NAZI BROUGHT BODIES WITH EXCAVATORS IN PITS (i saw it in an old documentary)

+ i see you got offended when you saw my post, well, that's what i think.

"By making an avatar that includes a strictly-artistic twisted 'x' I'm looking stupid, childish, and disrespectful? I'm failing to see how that works."

why childish stupid & disrespectful ?

i'll make an example.

person A's family got killed & maniak who did it allways leaves the same symbol on the wall near the bodies. would person A be happy when he sees someone's avatar with that symbol ? + person A understands that the guy with the avatar KNOWS what this symbol means & what did that maniak do.

that is just laugh at all the death & suffering there once was.

ADDITION:
forgot to tell: the nazi began one of the most bloody wars of mankind. show that sign to a person who was in ww2 before he goes to sleep & he most probably will have nightmares.

P.S. Veta, i liked your previous avatar very much (no kidding) & then you changed it.

I see no guilt in ignoring one who assumes and interprets your actions wrongly and against reason.
