Ok, so I was strolling around the RPG section in the dl database and found this map. As soon as I played this, I loved it! I highly recommend an old map: DeathKnights 3 By Alpha(MC).
The story is that you have fought Sarius 2 times. Now you must get revenge again and fight him a third time. This map has some of the BEST music ever, also an arena type fighting. The towns and the map is highly detailed, and also, the difficulty fits the game well. It also has the BEST gameplay of ALL rpgs I played! Seriously, I could play this game for 12 hours straight if it wasnt for school!
Anyways, I highly recommend this old map, and I hope you have fun playing it!
REVIEW:
Gameplay - 10.0
Like I said, I would've played this for 12 hours.
Terrain - 9.0
The terrain and design was really nice. But since there was no SCMDraft terrain or something, I didn't really like it.
Story - 8.5
A very deatailed story, but too unoriginal. Refight villains. Gotta do better with stories next time
Details - 10.0
What else can I say? Alpha(MC) Took time to make a great rpg. Good job!
OVERALL - 9.5
A really great map! im not gonna lie but i played this map and the system battle system sucked. i didnt like it at all. run on the other end? what if you had 1 hp and u got caught by sum1 and engaged in battle? they would pwn you hard. thats what i hated but the rest was cool.
Yeah, that's how I died Well I like these arena fighting, like Xuru RPG. But I guess you don't like arena fighting then. Deathknights l|l is probally still one of the best RPGs ever created. regardless of what people say. Take a look at the rpgs that are coming out Today, most of them are just Rip-offs or remakes with Very minor changes. this was one of the RPGs that changed everything. and its still one of the best. 9/10 in my opinion

Well, realistically will you escape an archer when you would only need to take 1 hit?
I liked the map a lot, although I found it eventually got repetitive and got bored and just left.

Yeah the battle system was just the means of doing battle, nothing to glorfiy or de-glorify. But my problem with the map was after gettin near midway, it was real repetitive, like doing the same stuff but it all took longer to do. Besides that it was great, I gave it a 8.5/10(if u wulda looked it has already been reviewed
)

This is one of the RPGs that I actually managed to play for quite a while before stopping :{. Anyways, it has a very unique battle style although there are more and more RPGs using this system now. The health system and magic is not that new but it was still well made. The only annoying part were the muggers that would attack you at night, they were so annoying when I was at a low level.
The review is nice. I bet if you tuned it up Millinieum Army (or whoever runs the review database) will post a second review of DeathKnights 3.
Ya, Alpha(MC) made some pretty sweet RPGS.

isnt there already a Review on this map?
Meh you can't really make a game that's not repetitive unless it is completely random, but you will end up repeating it....somehow.
Good game. Definitely took effort and a lot of time.
6.5/10
Not going into details right now since...I am sleepy. zz;;
you can feel all this work that he put into it, for that 9/10
(-1 cuz some bugs accured & they annoyed me
)
Saying "some bugs" isn't really detailed. Explain it please. Ya this map pwns many others. Being that it took him over a year to make and shiz. A lot of the music in it is his own.
Didn't take me a year, took me like 10 months. Would've been like 6-7 months, but I a was sloppy w/ trigs and I was just down right getting tired of map making. After you fully make 3 rpgs, and you're working on your 4th. Your motivation isn't too high.
I need to play this game again, havn't really played it almost a year.
Death Knights III
I heard that this map was recommended in several threads, so I decided to jump straight into the third map without even look at its predeccessors.
Story: Since this was actually a continuation of the previous two maps, I'll have to say that the story is definately extended, although you pretty much head straight towards the big bad wolf from the start of the game. Despite there, I've seen enough development in the world to say that the story is quite developed. I though the intro was quite amusing, as the king thought he summoned two 'heroes.' Little did he know that the two Death Knights were there because they jumped into a warp of some sort to follow the antagonist. In short, the story is straight forward, almost too linear, but the development of the world itself makes up for the rather simple plot.
Terrain: This used another sort of 'world map' type of terrain, except the world map includes the entire town, rather than a dummy that teleports you to the actual one. The towns were quite expansive, and the terrain was unique at some areas when needed. Some stuff were quite typical, but at least you didn't fall into a habit of having the entire map as a mixed bag of random terrain.
Battle System: Although this is an arena class battle system, I would categorize it differently from the Xuru and FFIII's battle system, because of several things. First, the arena is much larger, and gives you more control over things. Secondly, NPCs and guards actually aid you in the battle, and some even come at midpoint, which is a pretty rare concept that should be utilized. Of course, there are still flaws in this. There are spells and summons, but the balance of them isn't so great. Sure, the summons are powerful, making you want to use them. However, they have quite a price tag on them, and that discourages players from using them, despite their power. I'm pretty sure that price tag is to balance out their burst of power, but there should be other ways of balancing them out rather than raising the mana cost. But anyways, I liked this battle system more than Xuru/FFIII's, however similar the systems actually are.
Originality: For one thing, the heroes aren't goody two shoes. Also, the quests and such are rather interesting. Burning a fisherman's house because the bartender's wife was promiscuous gave me a laugh. Even other quests that included the typical 'slaughter this guy' stuff brought on a sort of uniqueness, ex. the Ghost Ship and that witch, whom I forgot the name of. EXP chests were unexpected in my case. They were pretty useful, but I don't think they were really that necessary.
Complexity: I didn't find the game too complex, but rather open, similar to the Open RPGs and Xuru (I'm making alot of comparisons with Xuru. Probably because I reviewed that map recently). This is a good thing. Even with some paths blocked off earlier, you still felt as if there was really a world to explore and such. However, when the player was given access to the airship, I noticed a jump of difficulty from the last enemies I'd fought to the enemies in the castle or something. As for systematic, anyone who had played RPGs before should understand everything in no time.
I never got around to beating this RPG, although my save file still sits somewhere around my hard drive. I also never got around to playing the two prequels to this, and I think I should, so I could see more of the story and such. But even as a standalone map, this RPG is very solid and features some interesting stuff. Personally, I thought the gameplay went downhill when you got the airship, because the rest of the map isn't very developed and you basically can go straight to the final boss at that point. Of course, there was that secret cave, but I never raised enough to survive there, so I don't know what's there. As a restatement of gameplay, it's fun, but becomes repetitive eventually. Not so much as most other RPGs, but as you fight your 3rd enemy in the castle, you're starting to wear out on summoning the Minotaur and everything else. I think that there should be more strategic elements in battles, and battles that require these strategic elements, so the battle system will retain longetivity for an extended amount of time. But anyways, this is a solid RPG with a decent plot. Recommended.

Are you Quite Sane, or just dumb which is it?
Complexity is how I rate the learning curve. In this case, the higher the score, the steeper the learning curve is. Here, a lower score in complexity is actually better, because the player can catch on to the gameplay earlier on. Because of the irrelevance to the overall score, all categories under 'Other Factors' are not counted towards the average score the map gets. Simply put, the 3/10 is actually a good thing in the category. Perhaps I should've explained the category better before introducing it, but I don't see how this could get you worked up to assume anyone as 'dumb.'
Heh, Golden-Fist always wanted to play this game :\ We never played it though. I played number 1, I think, and it was a pretty good game. It was a long game though, so I'll assume this is the same ;\
I'll try it out later, maybe.
This map is original, and fun.....for a while. With the first hero, hiring a bunch of ghosts, upping the armor a TON and the weapons a little, and then using the summon rangers spell basically made every battle a cake walk. Almost no micro required. You just had to use the rangers as meat shields.
