Classic Brefing Editor=Good Idea

However, the following have the ability to create breifings. bleh.gif

SCM Draft 2
Star Forge
StarCraft X-tra Editors
FartyEdit
Regular StarEdit

Would I be so desperate if I could use those???

SCM Draft 2 - No it doesn't...

Star Forge - Screws maps, once lost 2 hours of work just because of 1 save in SF. Have sworn to never use it again.

StarCraft X-tra Editors - Deletes sprites, units, doodads, deletes a lot of extended unit names(death counters), deletes other advanced stuff...

FartyEdit - Link me biggrin.gif

Regular StarEdit - Same as SCXE...

Besides, it's about a time to make SCMDraft2 a stand alone editor.

Heres how to make briefings.
1)Open the staredit that comes with starcraft.
2)Upload any sound into a new map of anysize.[If sounds are used if not just start a new map]
3)Make your briefing there.
4)Open the map in SCMD and open the crappy mission briefing editor up.
>if sounds are used make sure you upload them into scmd beforehand and edit the string files in notepad after you copy.[see next step]
5)Copy and paste that into your map.
6)Save
The end.
This may or may not work, i do not know. It should though.

Yea, I could just make briefing stuff in staredit before making map and then edit strings in the string section. But I didn't and need a working plugin now. Please anyone!! helpsmilie.gif

Make your briefing in X-tra Editor. Next, use this program to export it out of the map you made with X-tra Editor. Then use that program to import it into your map.

Every thing seems fine. Except it doesn't import the strings for briefing. So it replaces them with random existing strings. This time with used unit names. I tried it several times and it uses the same used string all the time so I can't edit it. In one word, damn. sad.gif

If you're that desperate, I've started on a trigger editor plugin a long time ago (around 7-8 months) in C++/Win32. It's fairly easy to make it into a mission briefing editor since I haven't done too much trigger-specific stuff (just done with the main window GUI and began listing the players for which triggers could be edited). Thus, it's far from complete, but some of the basic annoying stuff is done (however, I haven't done ANY of the windows that actually pop up with triggers, good luck with that).

If you want to and have the requisite knowledge of the above, I can just attach whatever I finished here (this goes out to anyone else out there willing to continue with this).

SCMIE won't really work, especially if there are recycled strings in your map (which SCMD2 does by default, hopefully that will be made an option next version... whenever that will be).
