I may continue this later, or I may not:
Antonis brushed back a lock of brown hair from his left eye and grinned. That last counter had left a welt the width of his hand on Garen's arm. "So, dear brother, have you had enough for today?" Cradling his arm, Garen barely brought his own sword up in time to deflect Antonis' saber away and was paid back with a light slap across the cheek from his brother's free hand. "Now I've hurt both your body and your pride. Are you tired yet? We've only begun to dance!" Antonis spun around in a complete circle and bowed.
"Eh, you're a damnable git, you know that?" Nursing his temper back into full health, Garen thrust himself forward, using his momentum to counter Antonis' surprised parry. Their bodies collided, and they were off rolling in the dust at each others' throats, only half jokingly. Both blades tumbled away, forgotten in the heat of their fight.
It was their mother that ended the light hearted brawl with a shrill yell. "Get off of each other, lest I bring the captain here to separate you two! You two should know better, claiming to be men and all." Giving them each a stern look, she twisted around and stepped back into her kitchen, where the tantalizing aroma of fresh ham and scones being prepared wafted out. Although she had gone, the duel was over.
Antonis extended his arm to Garen, a grin displayed clearly even in the shadows of dusk that Garen could not help but emulate. "It appears that we went and made the old woman upset. I hope this doesn't change what's on the menu tonight."
"Nonsense. Why would she waste good food? She's still got to feed us you know, and who is she going to give that ham to - the dogs?" Which was exactly what the old woman did, sharing the ham amongst the hounds after she had filled her own plate and no other. The scones she handed off to her elderly neighbor, whom she told Garen and Antonis thanked her greatly for. Looking down into his foul concoction that was supposedly a porridge of sorts, Garen smirked at his brother. "Well, Garen, no money bet, no money lost."
