Quoted from the earlier post I made. Rest assured, this is no silly weekend trigger experiment like most of my other maps. I take special pride in this for trying to make an actual gameplay experience out of it instead of your run of the mill RPG or D map. I've pushed virtually every limit Starcraft has with this map, be it strings, units, locations, sounds... all that jazz.

Anyway, there's another more important reason I'm steaming ahead to finish this just recently. I've been doing a lot of growing up lately, realizing both that I need to mature a bit on my own time before making any new ventures, and realizing what it is I really want to achieve in the first place anyway. Well it looks like I'm about to make my first venture into the gaming industry soon (no details yet), but to do that I need a portfolio. Since to date I haven't even one "fully" completed and playable map to call my own (defense/movie maps arn't really considered full/playable, FYI), this will stand at least as my first Starcraft project that I've actually completed. And as you can see, I'm a bit excited.

Of course, Starcraft maps alone won't cut it, but then, that's what I've been taking care of this past year while I was gone. Because of that, it looks like this really will be one of my last Starcraft maps for a good long while. Not to do the whole "going out with a bang" thing, but I'm at least trying to make sure this is something worth playing.



Anyway, I cooked up a manditory trailer map for all yous mugs to show at least some of what's going to be involved in the actual map. Hey you can't go wrong with that Lacrimosa remix, either. wink.gif Be sure to check it out when you get the time, as well as the website I made for more information. Release dates (as of this post) are still up in the air though, but don't worry you shouldn't have to wait another year like last time (lol).

lol no, I personally think my A&O one is a bit better than this. Had more story-based stuff to show in it, whereas this is just strictly Rush's gameplay. I still like it, though.

Ironically, this took me several times longer to make than the A&O one. Go figure tongue.gif.

Yeah but anything that looks pretty wouldn't work correctly. There's no good tiles that work right with those downward edges, so I had to improvise (believe me I've looked).

Nothing like a good appetizer to start my cravings for the main course. This trailer is much faster paced than the A&O one, and relies mainly on the sound effects, and alot of death animations. Although the secret government thing is a bit...common, I guess the real fun all lies upon the gameplay mechanics, and that standard is definately going to be high, considering your status in the SC mapping community. And that line 'You!' was not the most eloquent quote. I was at least expecting a name, but since it seems to be an FPS, I guess I'll let you off the hook on that one.

Fast-paced, great sound effects, nice terrain (yay for highways), and all that jazz. Of course, I should just stick to the trailer rather than talking about the actual map. Comparing this to the A&O trailer, I personally liked this one better, due to the fast-paced action and such. Of course, the effects presented in A&O were much more emphasized and impressive, but there's just something about this trailer that gives it an edge. It could possibly be due to the label of 'brand new' on the Rush Trailer. This sounds like it'll be similar to your Trigger Happy D, except you're taking the offensive and going on the move and such, rather than staying on the defense track. I like the idea of traversing throughout a variety of terrain, so I'm looking forward to that. However, FPSes aren't my sort of game. But I'll give it a shot when the map is released.

That opening sound is from the start UMN theme from Xenosaga episode 1... YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY. Where'd you find it? Oh, and that computer effect was awesome, the trap opens... cool. By the way, I see you're using my trap building interiors, woot. I could help you with the terrain blending if you need it, cause some of that chasm is frankly... yucky.

Oo brillian 9 chinballs out of 10 =)§ a little sloppy actually or maybe not so much sloppyness just not exactly how i would prefer this map , speaking about prefercne's me myself actually prefer A&o trailer the perfect movie map!!!!!!!!@Q sorta but this was real good coming from you i didint expect any less , just a little more , all in all this was a good job and is worth seeing a couple of dozen times,, PS,... Have i reached 20 minerals yet?

Anyways, I don't have Starcraft so I can't say "OMG AWESOME TRAILER", but I do have one thing to say. Don't let it go down the drain like A&O, I actually hope that you do finish your project and pursue your gaming career.
You might not think a Starcraft map won't do you much for gaming, well, this would count towards having a lot of imagination, bug fixing experience and organization for making a game.

Can't really get any better tiles for the effect I was going for in that chasm area, but I could send you a terrain sample and let you try your hand if you want.

And yes, that sound (along with the very same song) is featured briefly in the map (the tutorial). I used a bunch of songs to spice things up from a variety of sources. Some you may recognize, and others you probably won't.
