Ok, our programming course is insane. Our teacher doesnt even know the material an expects us to get a 5 on the test.

I resent that remark really strongly . It's going to be easy for me to learn Java (easier*) because PHP and Java are really similar ^_^.

Our teacher kind of knows what he's talking about, but the book sure doesn't. The other day he showed us this book that for some reason he only got 1 copy of. It was late getting to him anyways. The description for it was a book that covers the concepts of Java and OOP well, is easily understandable, and something else, but after reading that, everyone in the class thought, "Well. Already that's 3 things that it does better than our textbooks." Did you by any chance have to deal with Karel? That was hell.
