Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Are some people born criminals ?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JaFF on 2006-04-19 at 07:47:39
are some people born to become criminals ? or is it the society, that gives a person the "shape", like plastic ? what factors can make a innocent little 1 year old kid grow up a criminal ?

Not born criminals, they're brought up criminals.

People aren't born to become criminals

But the way they're raised could be a heavy factor in their later life. So if a child grows up unloved or untaken cared of, it's very possible he will become a violent person.

i think it's 50/50. half of it are gens, you can't go agains them. just like some people are born to be sporty & other not. but the other half is enviroment ofcourse.

It could also be events at that time in life when they do something illegal. Like, being broke would lead to robbing a convenient store, and if you're stupid enough, a bank.

I think though, that how you were raised is a bigger factor in determining this.

in my opinion, there is no such thing as people being born with their fate sealed. its up to them to change if they want to. people become criminals depends on several factors. in the u.s, you can change what you want to be. you can work hard and become very successful, but not in one day.

being raised in poverty, living around an environment that is completely run down, and being influenced by people. like you criminals would be common in a place.
also people being poor would make them being a criminal rise in some people, and having anger and hate in them would cause more violence.

And that's why you're considered a burdon to SD.

People are not born criminals. It's all Psychological Development.

It's just people/events that influence them over the course of their lives. Nothing they're born with.

Studies have shown that criminalistic attributes are contained in some family genes. Through process of genetics, not everyone in a family will have criminal tendencies. And it has also been shown that some people could be born with these traits, but are also able to defeat the urges depending on how well they handle society in general as a guide.

You can be born a criminal, but most people who are--are able to overcome those urges and not act on them. But, due to upbringing, or other influences of society etc., someone who does not have a genetic link to crime can also become a criminal.

i wonder if those studies even considered the fact that mayeb the reason that everyone in those families were criminals was because of their upbringing by their criminal daddy's.

Yes you can go against them. Everyone in my family the generation before me played pro lacrosse, and every one this generation except for me will probably wind up playing it too. I just don't like gonig out to practice often or playing that much.

It's definantly nurture in this case. Wait... I was brought up to play too...

Nature + Nurture = Neither.

What about repressed desires to kill, but not because you don't wanna get arrested?

Is that criminal?

I think it's the way you're brought up, you need to be messed up in the head like that already (perhaps genetically), and be brought up in a place where you don't hold too much responsibility for your actions, or people think you do but you think that it isn't too much.

Nature and Nurture, as they say, AND SOME THOUGHTS OF THEIR OWN, = criminal, or whatever else they wanna be

Well, it is probably true that some people would be easier to manipulate the veiws of right and wrong, but they certainly are not born criminals. They are simply brought up with a misunderstanding of the norms of right and wrong. I say this because the ideas of laws are simply the veiws of people, and individuals may have much different opinions on what constitutes right and wrong.

And its true that many laws (particularly local ones) are stupid. wink.gif

dunno why this idea got into my brain, but...

if your gens controll the colour of your hair, why can't they controll how brain tissue is grown & formed when you are little ? ofcourse your enviroment changes you, but your gens allso affect your brain... i think.

That's a possiblility.. Because on my fathers side of the family, most of his sisters are diagnosed with Depression. It's in my genes.

You can't be born bad, you can't be born evil. Why? Because as a baby, you have no understanding of right and wrong, you have no concept of good and bad.

Babies are as pure as you get.

After awhile, parents teach them, what right, what's wrong, by telling them, spanking them or anything.

Pretty much what anyone else here just said, it's how you're brought up. But there're different reasons for why they do it.

It all depends on your life.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Shadow-Killa_04 on 2006-04-20 at 16:00:00
I think it is 2 main factors, how they grew up and society. Not much more to say on the matter to me. Its not like the babies have a choice where it is to be born and by whom.

it is in no way possible to be born a criminal. Simply because laws are man-made and not part of nature. He may be a criminal in one country yet a law-abiding citizen in the next.

They arn't born criminals, they just become criminals with the way they live.

i think there are some traits that can occur in people that can lead to being a criminal if brought up wrong, but if brought up right will simply lead to stuff like business ambition and becoming rich and 1337.
