The thought of my own country has been in my head for several years now, and I decide to ask what your country would be like!
I understand that some of this would be beyond your control.. but we can dream.
Post things such as..
In my country, the government would mainly just to keep the country alive and keep it from destroying itself. People would be able to believe whatever they want, I would not be there to label, control, or degrade people. It probably would have the "what you do to harm someone will be done to you", since I have always thought that fair.
I would not want a large country, but one big enough to have some resources. I tend to like mountains, but I would want to be somewhere tropical and warm; preferably an island.
In this country we would grow enough crops and have enough agriculture to support the country. I think a country is best if it can support itself completely from the inside; you would not need to pay another country for goods or ship all the products.
I would want my country to be pretty much neutral in any international conflicts. I think it is better to stay off to the side rather than throwing yourself out there to be nuked or targeted.
Eh.. its just a random idea, but I think it is interesting.

Okay, I would have a large island, like Crete, and have it be ruled by a true democracy, as in everybody votes on everything. Cretes economy is mainly centered around agriculture, and I like that.

I would probably use the "eye-for-an-eye" method (Hammurabi's Code?) for laws. It would be a strong democracy, not a dictatorship. As you both stated, I agree with centering the economy around agriculture and keeping neutral to foreign conflicts (which is what the United States seems to be having trouble doing lately), but I would also encourage a well-trained army to defend the country in case of an invasion. I would let the public know that it's their duty to overthrow the government if it becomes corrupted.

My country would probably be an island, at least at first.
It would practice EITHER:
(if the rest of the world is still around): democracy, mostly isolationism, focusing on technology and a strong military
(if no one else is around): I guess you might call it modified communism. Just technological advancement is more focused on how people live than anything else. Goverment is run by a council of 9 people. Majority of that elects 2 people who run the country, let's call them, QANZZ!
There's the main Qan and the vice-Qan. All decisions are ran over by them first. If they agree, there is no discussion. If it's not unanimous, the votes turn to the council, and the Qan gets 4 votes, the vice qan gets 3, and the other 7 council members get 1.
Most if not all physical labor is done by robotics (if possible)
Scientists are valued members of society, the military would be mostly robotic if possible...(come on, you don't wanna see your son go out and die in some country 2000 miles away. a robot, you dont care about ;P )

That's pretty much what I'd want my nation to be, except I would like it a bit smaller, perhaps on an island, and isolated from everywhere else. Perhaps a bit like Japan, except less populated. (And my hawks wouldn't be dying -_-)
