I wanna extract the sprites from starcraft, is this possible to extract them into a format i could use? like .bmp .gif .jpg etc.. Also if it is possible how do I extract them? I tired with MPQ viewer and MPQ extractor but havent gotten anywhere..

You could open StarDat.mpq with WinMPQ and extract the .grp files to a directory. Then use RetroGRP to write out the frames of the units.
Both RetroGRP and WinMPQ are available in the DLDB. Frames are in BMP format.
