Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> I'm tired of pretending
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Slyence on 2006-04-23 at 23:02:08
I'm tired of pretending like US involvement in the Middle East has absolutely nothing to do with oil. I'm tired of this little charade. I don't want to play this silly game anymore.

Though the mass media ignores the fact, nobody has yet offered a single compelling argument that would convince anyone that our foreign policy is not based on the aquisition and protection of oil reserves. From the direct and open support of terrorist states to our concern for "stability" in the Middle East period. The fact is that we would not give a farking rats ass about the Middle East if it did not contain massive oil reserves.

Who is to blame?

Our politicians are to blame. The evidence is really mounting at this point against our government. It's clear that everyone in Washington knows the central role that oil plays in both our foreign policy and national security objectives, but they never talk about it. This failure to inform the public of the true nature of our world will no doubt lead to death and destruction. It is my hope that any future history books definitely demonize American politicians of the early 21st century, because thats exactly what they are.

I understand that oil is a vital resource absolutely necessary to our national security. I understand that it is within both the scope & range of the responsibilities of the US government to secure oil for Americans. I understand that we really have no other choice BUT to involve ourselves in the Middle East. However, I am still extremely disappointed. Our government could at the very least try it's damndest to encourage alternative energy and reduce our dependance on oil. THAT, is in the interests of our national security...reducing our oil dependance.

Oil sand extracts can be produced for $10-20 a barrel. Guess what the oil corporations want to keep doing? Hint: It involves a civil war in the Middle East.

VP Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton from 1995 to 2000. Halliburton is a contractor with free reign in Iraq, operating outside of laws. That can't possibly be a coincidence.

Maybe they realize that this blows their arguments out of the water, so they aren't even going to try to debate it? Who knows.

Nice to see you have ignored yet another one of my posts. Why must you play this game Kellimus, you are acting like a little child. But seriously, I have already debated my ideas, the main points:

-The USA is the leader in foreign aid, economically and military-wise.

-I never said oil was not a factor in the conflict in the ME, but it is not the main reason we went there. (Also, what sense would it make for people to make a quick buck on the lives of other people just so they can make money? Sure, it probably sounds pretty reasonable for all of you that believes the war in Iraq was just for oil, but to most people when I've asked them that questions, it made them though. Don't think this is the first time I've ever debated this topic). Keep in mind, the money spent on the war could go to research/production of an alternative energy source(s) of which the oil company owners that aparently are the cause of this war to become more wealthy than they are now.

-Human Empathy/Will/Logic: The ability for so many to keep secret without leaking to the public throughout the whole entire system of leaders on Capitol Hill that soldiers overseas are dying for oil and nothing more.

-You can go look for more info in other serious discussions even though most of them end the same: Kellimus trolling about how much better he is than me because he has such a big ego. Irony: He calls everyone that disagrees with him an egotist. (Or a sheep).

I don't actually think Bush truly believed that he went into Iraq for oil. However, I think the driving force of the people voting for him wanted to see us in Iraq for oil.

Still no proof of any oil taking, we get enough oil from from other countries, not to mention our companies are in Libya right now making contracts/etc.

Plus our government has massive support for other fuels, like biofuels (History channel), its just getting the money from point A to point B through all the commities is a challenge.

Why make a war for oil when we are spending, more and more each day on fuels other then oil? Why are we looking at Brazil for good examples?

I don't believe that we went to iraq with good reason. However saying it was for oil is a perfectly good reason compared to what I think the government is doing. But I won't get into that. I'll just say I'll agree because it's part of what I think.

Uh, right. No wonder you attacked me in the other threads. Hypocrite.

And the following blows your damn "Not there for Oil" arguments, OUT OF THE WATER:

QUOTE(Yahoo)
Menendez spoke at a press conference where Democrats sought to turn gas prices — like Hurricane Katrina and the
Iraq war — into an issue to undermine Bush's standing with voters. "What happened to Iraq oil, Mr. President? You said Iraqi oil would pay for the war. Ain't seen no money. Ain't seen no oil," said Sen. Barbara Mikulski (news, bio, voting record) of Maryland.

The suspension of oil purchases for the federal emergency oil reserve until the fall is likely to have only a modest impact. The halt in deposits involves only 12 million barrels — less than the 20 million barrels of oil used every day in the United States for transportation.

Here is the article: Proof that Bush is gay.

And BOTH of you say that me and Euro are fabricating about the Oil. No. We just pay attention to the retarded president when he talks.

ADDITION:
FFS! Do you want a hypocritical president!?

QUOTE(Yahoo)
Bush resisted calls for a suspension of shipments to the reserve in the past. When his 2004 presidential opponent, Sen.
John Kerry, D-Mass., suggested the same idea during the campaign, Bush called it "playing politics."

I distincly remember this during the debates on T.V. Seems like your precious president is now a manipulator, deciever, AND hypocrite.

EDIT so I don't tripple post:
QUOTE(Yahoo)
n Tuesday, Bush said the nation's 685-million barrel petroleum reserve had enough fuel to guard against any major supply disruption over the next few months.

That's ludicrous! That won't last five days! Is he stupid!? Oopsie. I answered my own question.

QUOTE(Yahoo)
The president said Democrats in the past have urged higher taxes on fuel and price caps to control fuel expenses, but he said neither approach works. Instead, he called for increased conservation, an expansion of domestic production and increased use of alternative fuels such as ethanol.

Yet when we had a Democrat in office, our gas was at a steady price, under about $1.50

This contradicts a lot of what you said. What you are saying is that Bush is an meanie and I totally agree with that, but it also says that you are just looking for ways to "pwn" me with words.

You change opinions or something?

You call me immature, yet you nit-pick: "The following blows your arguments OUT OF THE WATER" like a little 2 year old. Stfu.

Care to elaborate? Sure, it doesn't say what we've been saying, but it does, set in stone, how the president has LIED to the country.

Where do you come up with the idea I've changed my opinion? Are you pulling a Chris (No offence) and putting words in my mouth? NO WHERE have I changed my opinion. My opinion still stands: Bush deserves to be kicked out of office for manipulation, deception, and hypocricy.

How hard is that to understand as an opinon? Oh, I forgot. You haven't hit puberty yet or something.

I didn't nit-pick, first of all you posted like 2 more sections after I posted mine. I didn't feel the need to quote anything else because it's all basically the same Idea and keep in mind: I did respond to your first section fully.

So just because someone lies a few times, they have to lie all the time? Just because Clinton lied first about "I did not have sexual relations with that women", he must have lied about everything? I don't disagree with you that Bush is a dumbarse and all that jazz but not everything he does has to be a total f*ck up.

QUOTE

You state an opinion I have agreed with: People lie basically. It's just how you are using it to defend your opinion on the current conflict in this world which I do not agree with.

Oh yes, please to kick him out and replace him with a democrat. But the war will still go on even if one is elected. Do you not understand that?

I kindof agree and kindof dont because I think that in the beginning it had something to do with gas but now they are just trying to get IRAQ back together again but even still the war is getting old

I distinctly remember a lil' thing about Clinton getting a blowjob and getting impeached? Not sure if Bush classified that too...

Bush can take our rights away, decieve the nation, murder thousands of people, and not get impeached.

Clinton gets some head and get's kicked out.

All because REPUBLICANS control Congress.

If we went to the middle east for oil, why are the prices rising?

Have you ever heard of Supply and Demand?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2006-05-04 at 21:17:32
But if we're getting oil for cheaper (which we would if we attained the oil in the ME), the prices would go down. The demand would not exceed the supply then, or at least not as much as it is now.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kellodood on 2006-05-04 at 21:19:31
The supply is there, and the demand is here. If our demand is high enough (Which it is) then they can rack up the prices and get more money out of us.
