There are two main aspects to jobs. These are pay and stress/hours. So if you had to pick between a high stress job that pays very well or an easy job with lots of vacation time and low pay, which would you pick and why?

I would pick the high pay job. After I make lots of money, I can quit and go get that easy job. That way I would have an OK income and still a large bank account.

So what would you pick?

Work isn't supposed to be easy, and if I'm not making a lot of money, I'm probably already under a lot of stress with my bills, and having to get food on the table and stuff. If my wife is making a good enough money to support the whole family, then I guess I'd take the easy job, though ;p

I'm not saying your on a minimum wage job, I'm just saying that it isn't upper middle class pay. We'll say about $50,000 a year.

id go for the high pay. i'll just deal with the stress cause it doesnt bother me, later you're gona wish you did the high pay. you will be reaping the fruits of your labor like a king. if that makes sense...

High stress all the way. Being bored is way worse than being stressed out, IMO. Plus, there's a greater chance to get more power in an organization, which is something I always enjoy.

i might agree with that...right now my job is stressful and low pay, but im still going to school so i just need some cash...its only a part time job though anyway.

i guess if i can deal with this, i can with the high stree one but with more better pay. you gotta watch your stress level though cause i think it can cause higher blood pressure.

as long as i can work and make enough to support myself for a living then its good. make a little more and its a bonus and adds into the fun.

Agreed I would probably choose the high pay and high stress job too because you wont gain much job experiance with a low paying low stress lot of vacation job and you will be broke

ya basicly a low stress job is a waste of time

The question was raised in a class of mine, and the response was kind of mixed. Although the high paying job had the majority's opinion, lots of people agreed that they would rather have a stress-free fun job.

Both my parents together make about $55,000 a year and I know how hard it is with all the bills and stuff! I would deffinatley work harder for the more pay. I never wanna put my kids through what I had to go through, I am a good saver myself, I bought My Laptop myself, 1700 bucks and my PS2 and every single one of my games I bough myself, one day I added all the money I spent on everytihng. About $4800 I have spent on shiz, And my parents owe me like $2000 and I have a feeling I am not getting it back. I still have like 1500 in the bank for my car! I am going to work hard when I am older! To pay for my parents retirement because as of right now they have no chance for retirement, my dad is 40 my mom is 39 and I am almost 16 and me and my dad have been building are house since I was in fourth grade, I am a sophomore! Not Cool, we cant pay for someone to build it for us. Take this from me. Work hard so you can enjoy life later!

It's just that you get way more tired when you take it easy all the time instead of working your ass off a lot, ironically.

really? that doesn't happen to me

It depends on what exactly the jobs are. A friend of mine gets payed for cleaning up after construction workers for buildings all around town, they normally don't need anything cleaned up much, so he just hangs out at other peoples houses after signing in for his workday. He makes $18 an hour for a full workday for all the days of the week, and only does work when he wants to.
(Granted he does a lot of work on sunday)

I wish I had that job. pinch.gif

i pick the stress one, cuz i don't get stressed easyly

Depends on my motive for having a job.

If I have to support myself, then yes I would want a high pay job
But if I already have someone to help support me (such as my parents), then I would want an easier job (usually meaning lower pay).

Right now I work at a grocery store with 7 bucks an hour and a really easy, great time.

im in it for a good time and money. i could do w.o the stress
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp(U) on 2006-04-28 at 09:08:04
i would do the high pay job for a while... then quit that after i save up some money. then go to a low paying job to chillax and still make some cash, then, if I feel the need to make extra money to buy something or to save up for something at a quicker rate than the lower paying job, I'd switch over. But If the option of switching was not available..... hmmm.............. gimme the stress job because I will eventually adapt to it.

$50,000 a year.

My dad doesn't work, my mom does what she can, my family doesn't even make poverty level.

if we make $10,000 a year, mom's glad.

We have no problems with food, some with occassional bills, but everything works out.

If I had $50,000 a year, I'd be more than set.

However, since I don't believe stress exists, and I'm gonna be going to college and (hopefully) graduating to join up with some large computer company...so I could make more than that.

I suppose high paying job.

But if $50,000 is low, and I have so much vacation time...*yawn*

I can live with the $10,000 a year like my parents (with 3 kids) do while I'm either alone or with a wife...and invest like 70% of my income into things so I won't need to work later on.

Both would be good, but I'll take the high paying job =/

Wow.. 10k /year.. not much for todays world, but it is a reasonable amount with proper regards to accumilating and saving, spending on neccessities, and not wants. Kind of makes me view things differently.. I complain when there's no food on the table even though, I know there will indefinately be some there some other time, no matter what since my parents have secure income.. but anyway, yeah, high wage job, otherwise you're taking a somewhat foolish choice, simply because you dont feel like doing somethingthat is harder than your everyday life. disgust.gif
