I recently got bored. So I decided to take apart my old N64 and combine it with my computer, to make it look like I'm studying... ANYWAY.

I need help in the process of removeing the end of an N64 controller and replaceing it with a male USB plug, and if necessary what to do to get it to work witht he computers software.

Right now, from lack of experience I'm jsut going to strip the wires and combien them... If anyone has any experience in this and could tell me how and why this might be a bad idea, then ya.

well you need to get a stripped USB and strip ur contraller and fuse the wires together that corraspond. it could be risky cause you might lose a contraller if u mess up. there might be a converter some where out there but idk

There's converters out there, but I'm too cheap for 7 dollars.

I cracked it open to find that the USB cable has a black wire, a red wire, a green wire and a white wire.

The N64 controller has a black wire, a red wire, and a white wire. How do I proceed? Ignore the green wire? Beat up people smalle rthan myself? CHoke the chiken?

Don't cut the red wire or the N64 will explode.

Wait, nvm... cut the red wire.

i bet they left the green wire out just so you can't combine it like that. it's a conspiracy ;P

Well, if you're risky, i'd try it without the green wire. But you should make a poll for it because i dont wanna be blamed when you electricute yourself (exaggeration but who cares)

Well, I opted for the lazy way and melted all the wires together with copper and tin foil. Not surprisingly this made a large mess and didn't work!

I disconected wires and am ready tot ry once again!

ok syphon i think the green wire is connected to the ground of the system. im not sure but it is an important part. now im pretty sure they dont want people connecting their 64's to their comps. go to radio shak and ask. im sry to say but no one on sen knows much of anything of this sad.gif

If you had a clear plastic controller, you could see what color goes to what buttons.
I am too lazy to reach around my computer and unplug my clear USB cable to tell you what is what xP

"Now is it blue over red or red over blue..."

Sorry. I would guess that you should ignore the green wire for now.
