http://www.savetheinternet.com/

On Wednesday, Congress is voting on whether to give control of the Internet to Verizon, AT&T, et al, and I for one think that idea is bullshiz.

I certainly don't want the internet to private corporations- I want it free. I want to look up whatever I want, say whatever I want, do whatever I want. I want my pr0n and political debate, my online gaming and my LiveJournal blog. I want it to be free, damnit! It's only the American way. If the Founding Fathers had broadband, they would be against this shiz.

Sign the petition and save the internet.

This is stupid. If they did this then people would start their own internet with their own chain of servers. Theres already an internet2. Its only used for universities though.

Oh yeah. I think i saw this thread on blizzforums.

I doubt this is real. I don't think the 'owners' of the internet can control it's speed - It's based on what site uses what server and how powerful the server is.

I signed it as well. I have my rights on the internet, and I've earned them mellow.gif
This would disrupt the buisness world, which in turn would effect the domestic world. People would stop paying for the internet (at least the people who have actual lives and could live without the net), and soon, the internet would be a thing of the past. angry.gif

We can't let any of this happen huh.gif

KEEP THE INTERNET OURS clapping.gif clapping.gif

I sorta skimmed the article, and I'm not sure if what I did read is right. Does it basically say that congress is trying to pass a law that will keep stores from blocking what web sites your on if your in their store?

Congress is retarded (Going by if this is real)

The internet is owned by NO ONE. They cannot call dibs on this shiz. Hahaahahah! That's hillarious.

If you think this is real, you're really gullible.

Yeah. Owning the internet is like owning your thoughts. It's just not something someone else can 'own' or 'have.'

They have absolutely no control on how privately invested servers give information to you.

Congress has no right to give the International Internet Security and Administration Agency(Or however it's called) to any private company, because Congress doesn't have any say in International property.

Chances are that Congress' message was misunderstood. They probably want them to run some servers or something, but under no circumstances can they tell who will be running the Internet.
