Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> IE not working
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2006-05-01 at 15:33:00
Every time I try to view a webpage such as www.staredit.net, I'll get a pop-up error displaying "Internet explorer would not open the search page" then it displays the 'cannot find server' in the browser. At the info bar at the bottom it will attempt to go to www.staredit.net.edu, www.staredit.net.com, www.staredit.net.net, etc as if the extension was wrong.

I don't have any firewalls running (I have NortanAV03' if that matters), or at least I don't SEE any firewalls active.

So just what the heck is wrong? I've googled just about everything. I've messed with the settings, but I'm not sure if I messed with the wrong settings (I've resetted the settings too).

I need IE for somethings, suchas websites with activeX controls or "Only IE allowed" websites (Maplestory).

1. Get Firefox

2. Go to Google.com and type in "Staredit.net", search, and click the link. That should work.

Thank you so much. I knew someone was going to post that. I'M ON FIREFOX. How do you think I'm on Staredit.net?

Google doesn't work in IE either. Either does any other website.

Anything?! Oh, I dont know. Check your preferences.

Well, since everyone here seems to be FireFox Zealots instead of actually trying to help:

I'd say download and run HiJack this and look for nameserver entries. Also run your log through this to see if there's anything else messed up.

yeah i need help too with Internet Explorer. i have my firewalls on. the IE keeps telling me that im using or active X is outdated or some kind of error that keeps poppin up. is there anyway to get these active X controls without screwing up my computer?

also i have this stupid pop up saying that i dont have any spyware. it keeps saying my computer is infected by a virus which i dont have. if anyone knows the icon looks like a green handicap flashing red crossout on the green handicap icon.... it keeps flashing and making it pop up every 2 minutes.

plus everytime i click on that thing it leads me to download which i have to pay for to make the program work. isnt there a backdoor to this?

ADDITION:
plus if your going to say use firefox.... then im on it using it... and its not solving any problems due to IE

there are many features that i like about IE than firefox

What are you talking about? My IE can go everywhere and anywhere. Unless you gave yourself privacy options into miniumum levels.

Here are the steps:
  1. Look at your toolbar
  2. Click "Tools"
  3. Click "Internet Options"
  4. Look at the tabs above
  5. Click "Privacy"
  6. Change the meter to anything you want that can work

Unless you deleted your cookies.

Try just typing in 'mapleglobal' and hitting enter. It seems to want to put that .*** at the end so let it do just that.

Maybe you have spyware problems, they were killing my IE all the time before I got FF.

Try this, it's the best free spyware killer around these days. When I first downloaded and scanned my PC, it found about 350 spyware items I got via IE and porn sites blushing.gif

1. I have Hijackthis and I've had it forever, I'm pretty good with it.
2. Have AdAware, with recent updates, 0 results today (last week it found an Alexa thing)
3. Kow, it still attempts "www.mapleglobal.com" "www.mapleglobal.net" etc etc.
4. Krazy, trust me, that doesn't work. Tried it plenty of times I have SOME common sense tongue.gif.
5. I posted a thread here because they somewhat know what they're doing...

Fixed!
