Staredit Network

I was amazed at the protecting abilities of the Scm Tool Kit. You just select encpryted protection, type the thing that can make you remember the pw, and type the password in, repeat and save, there you go the map is locked. When you try and edit it, the editor will automatically shut itself down. Pretty handy. But then, my nightmare has came, i was gonna send my map to a friend, just IN case i locked it, cause i didn't want him snopping around my work. Then i started to get back to work and i unlocked it. I went to editor then... WTF, the editor crashed. I checked the scm tool kit, and it sed it was unlocked. Okay, fine probably used too much ram there or something, i try again, WTF!!! It was freaking me out pretty badly. I was thinking, maybe i should put a pw on it again, and unlock it. When i finshed that, WTFFFFF!!! Still crashes. Fine, i make a copy of the map and unlock that, open, OMGMGMGMGMGMMGMG it still crashes. Then i noticed when i added the lock to my map, it increased in size, but when i unlocked it, it stayed the same. Help is appriciated, or else i may never get to see my beautiful map ever again!!

I'm guessing you need to password unlock it, but I'm still unsure what the current problem is (too much info not needed)

But i did unlock the map in scm tool kit. But then when i opened staredit the "problem" map just crashed. I checked on scm tool kit and it was unlocked.

So basically its crashing when you try to unlock it? Can't really help you.

You could send the map to one of us, give us the pass, and have us unlock it.

I promise you I won't even look at the map if you send it to me. I would strictly unlock, send, delete.

Omg that shouldn't even be out. Now ppl can just bootleg my map and make a hundred other vers of it.

Its possible, but difficult most of the time. Most people don't bother.

Oh man, thats good and bad. It's pretty much impossible to get back into my own map and also it's pretty good since we know most americans are lazy.

Just give the map to me. I have ways of doing things like this. :blink:

[COLOR=green][SIZE=7][FONT=Courier]Um, you could just post the map somewhere, let him dl it and send him the password personally. that could work (im new here btw) . another suggestion- when you lock a map, have 2 copies of it, one unlocked and 1 locked so that you can distribute the locked and just open the unlocked when you wanna edit make new versions etc. Thats what i do, so you dont have to take internet tutorials on hex editing

How big is it anyway?

Uhh like about 1.2 mb. Anyway i can't post it on the fourms or the dl site cause it's too big.

I brought tazzys 1.2 meg map to 333 kb. Send it to me (msn/bnet/email) and i'll compress it.

For hotmail it only allows 1064kb to be sent.

MSN, meaning file transfer using their accounts. They both have email accounts @staredit.net. :yes:

I can't transer file cause im on a network. And for some reason the network won't allow me to transfer... i think its fw. Even if i disabled it on the network, it still doesn't work. Btw, i started a new one, the beta is OUT! And the link works finally.

When we server move, I'll up the max file size upload a bit.
