Crime and Punishment has now been renamed SEN Rules.
Crime and Punishment is now this thread - which actually details crimes and punishments.

v5 policy rewrites are becoming rather effective here. tongue.gif

MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
This one is fairly obvious, and also gets us very angry. You get ONE account on SEN, no excuses.

My Proposed Change: The people who are willing to give up their posts for a new account, and are not evading warns or fines, may be do so if they first tell an admin. Ex: Joe might realize his posts could be better.

QUOTE
IMPERSONATION
Obvious similarities in name is a good starting point (ie Moose vs Mo0se or Moos3). Having the same avatar, title, and signature image can make you hard to distinguish from someone else. Basically, if effort has to put in to figure out who you are, or you're frequently confused for another member, you're going to be punished for imitating another member.

My Proposed Change: Exceptions are granted for members of a constuctive organization who are in it and support it. Ex: My clan members have a Mind Control Icon. At least change it so people may use the same site issued avatars.

QUOTE
you're going to be punished for imitating another member

Does this apply to Global Moderators and them changing signatures. Some people may get annoyed. They are acting as if they were the person.

I can tell your clan members apart fairly easily despite the avatar, so that would be allowed.

Editing a signature doesn't impersonate anyone. The Global Mods aren't trying to mirror the other person, they're just changing the other person to fix rule violations (hopefully tongue.gif).

You have changed my mind by your valid point. They are just having fun. Besides if one asked them I doubt they would edit their account.

And SOMEBODY who spammed my "Game Engines" thread didn't follow the obvious rules, or never read them at all. He needs to read these rules:

QUOTE(SEN Rules)
1. By participating on this website, you acknowledge that you possess a working, functional brain, will make use of it, and are capable of playing nice in the sandbox with the other kids. You will expected to respond to logic.

3. No swearing or abusive language may be directed towards another member or staffer of SEN.

4. Treat everyone with the courtesy and respect you'd like to recieve in return. If you don't respect us, we won't respect you. Especially treat staff with respect - we work for the site, not for you!

5. Demonstrate common sense in your actions and language - this is a forum, not an AOL chat room. If you want to spam or post in jibberish and 1337, go to some kiddy site. Please do not post for the sake of posting, that is spamming.

6. If you and other(s) are going to argue or have a side conversation, try to keep it in Private Messages. We are not a court system, and will consider excessive posting of off topic replies spamming in addition to flaming.

7. Multiple accounts are not allowed, no excuses. Abusing multiple accounts to cheat on games or evade punishments will result in severe penalties. If you wish to change your username, use the item in the store.

12. Please, no whining. Yes, we know your account used to have no warns. We know you didn't do it. That's all fine and dandy, but we don't want to hear about it.
tongue.gif The golden rule, in gold, if you don't like it, leave.

Good for you, but we don't need to hear your personal gripes. Now that the rules are spelled out "this person" (I can take an educated guess at who that is) is bound to them like everyone else.

CENSOR EVASION
There is a built in censor to the forums. Attempts to evade them through mispellings, spaces, symbols, etc is a punishable offense. This means fu¢k, fu-ck, f*ck, fuuuck are not allowed. F-word, fark, f**k, f'ed, f'ing are OK.
Good thing you included example of ones we can't say. =)

You forgot to include fug! You even said we could say it!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by xMCx on 2006-05-12 at 17:56:16
So you are going to punish members who steal people's avatars, but your not going to punish Global Moderators who edit & change signatures? tongue.gif

"It isn't specified in that FAQ!" to be valid excuse any time soon.

I feel like by exploiting the rules I did something good for this site. Best new policy amendment yet.

QUOTE
Unsupported Arguments: This applies especially in polls. If you take a poll and vote for something, please don't make a post of "I voted for [x]". Also, if you agree or disagree with something, please give an opinion or reason. This would include things like "I like blue" or "I dislike [x]".

So many people post useless information to not back it up in polls. This is a wise decision to add this.

Are you like going to put a list of people who've been warned or broke the rules in the public so everybody can see?

No warns are private. They can only be viewed by yourself. Sometimes their is a store item in stock where you can view someones warns.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2006-05-13 at 15:07:24
Yes, you can take someone's avatar without impersonating them. It is only after taking a number of things (signature, name similarity, user title) that someone would become hard to distinguish. An avatar - and only an avatar - by itself, would not cause great confusion.

No, there's not going to be a public warn viewing or anything. We don't need marytrs and constant bickering and explaining oursleves over every single moderatory action we perform.

Wow. I'm gone for about three days and everythings changed, woah. And btw: My O button is broken, so is it alright if I use 0 s0metimes s0 I don't have to push the O button so damn hard? I will 0nly use it if it's reallllllllllllllly hard to make it work.

I don't care if Krazy got off topic first.

I am confused on what exactly you have done n0w.. Is this a new system of punishment now or something?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2006-05-14 at 16:18:11
New, old, maybe a little of both. Either way there is now a more consistent and defined policy. Its what's alive and what's being enforced now, so it doesn't matter.

Wouldn't reporting posts help me to find violations, Kellimus?

No one ever listens to my reports anyways, so why should I even try?

I would assume yes?

Moose, judging by how you mod things out of Kellimus' posts all the time, and seem verbally disgruntled with said user, do you really think that...

1: He would bother when you seem to dislike him
2: Assuming he does, you would actually do something about what he reported
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2006-05-14 at 20:16:11
[sarcasm]Yes, I delete every single report I get from Kellimus immediately because I'm that much of an mean person.[/sarcasm]
If you take reports seriously, I take reports seriously. I've acted a countless number of times on Kellimus' reports (I clear out my reports almost daily though, so I can't cite example. A report from Kellimus is treated like any other (which may or may not warrant action, the latter of which triggers "You ignored me").
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KrAzY on 2006-05-15 at 09:47:58
I took mines seriously, and nobody even done anything.

EDIT: Take a look at this, moose. Here's a quote I made when I posted it in v5. Incase Kellimus tries to delete it, it'll be in here...

QUOTE(v5 post)
Durk, Kellimus is hiding something, it's where he is stupid enough to spam my forums when my fellow retired terrorist gave him admin. I already deleted it but I got screenshots. And he's not suppose to be there in the first place.

Durk, you think I would win? Look at Kellimus, he said I have no life, look at him! That's just not fair, you can't let Kellimus do bullcrap like this and keep on going.
