You can have nukes that dont 'blow up' but I'm not sure bout' ones that do.

You cannot have nukes be launched without a ghost. Would it be futile to just cloak the ghost? I haven't tested this and can't because this comp doesn't have SC, but if you were to remove a ghost right after the nuke was launched, would the nuke still land? I doubt it, but worth a shot.

Nah, its just that I don't want it to show at all, not the ghost or the nuke, just the explosion. Oh well, time for PLAN B!

Well, technically you can make it "look like" a launch without the ghost. Just use some AI scripts to controll a nuke.

You could use sprites if you only want the explosion at the beginning of the map.

You can do this: Use the SF MPQ sounds to make it sound like a nuke launch and detonaton, only use a unit explosion at the give location, for example you could say:

Actions:
-Play WAV "nuke launched"
-Wait 24250 (Yes, thats exactly how long a nuke takes... I've studied it.)
-Create 4 Battlecruiser at "nuke boom"
-Kill All Men for All Players at "nuke boom"
-Set Unit HP for all building owned by all players to 25%
-Play WAV "nuke explosion"

It isn't perfect, but it's the closest you can get without creating a ghost and using AI Nuke at Locaton.

How long did it take you to figure out that a nuke takes 24250 milliseconds?

You could make a ghost for another player thats cloaked and nuke.

There is a trick that I saw in some campaigns that is center view somewhere else and then play the sound and kill everything.

yea you should probably kill all men and then set exactly how much that building loses instead...of course, if the unit is already almost dead, this might be a problem wink.gif

About one week of playing a defense map where you use nukes to kill the units. I nuked at "0:25" on the timer, ghosts idled for about 750 mS then put on red dot. Anyone who knows nuke time can pwn "nuke the whales" maps in whcih the whales upgrade at specific time - just nuke the one upgrade spawn spot 24 secs before upgrade. wink.gif
