I understand there it is possible to play on different servers then USEast, USWest, Europe, & Asia. Can someone tell me of additional servers I should add to my list and how you can create your own? Also, what is the point of playing on them?
Technically, yes.
For 95% of this site, it's useless.
To make your own server? I don't think you can, but if there is a way, I wouldn't know.
I know that PGT (Pro Gamer Tour) uses it's own server (Bnet-X), which you can download the launcher for at their website, www.pgtour.net (or is it .com?)
Anyway, thats just for melee tournament ladders and stuff, because it uses 3rd party programs to keep rankings on players and stop hacking and such.
Dunno about any others. WCG is on the same bnet server. Other stuff like that European Cyber League or whatever, I wouldn't know.
Yes it is possible. Why would you do it? It's usually people just fooling around, enabling illys, loading, enjoying a server free from Reps. How do you edit them? Get a special gateway editor that I can't link to. If people create them, they usally die within a few months because of no one logging on. Most people use PvPGN (Player vS Player Gaming Network) which isnt that realistic or another more realistic one, maybe Bnet-X. But ya.. they aren't that popular nowadays.
I don't know why you would want to go onto these servers anyway. Is it like a cool thing to do, because not that many people would be on it right? If it isnt already on it when you get it people wouldnt know how to get it and then the server wouldnt be as good as the ones provided.

Certain servers; such as the ones on mod night; allow downgraded versions (1.10, 1.11, etc.) to be played with online.
