I don't know about you guys, but I think this person is incredible. If I have any goal in art, it would be to be able to draw like him. Here is his deviant art page.

Whoaaa. That is amazing
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Slyence on 2006-05-23 at 07:00:53
That is truly amazing. I don't think I will ever be that good at drawing with pencils. I'm pretty good myself at drawing with pen though.

Wow. My sister is an artist and can almost draw that good.

that is amazing, it looks exactly like a picture that was taken!

I wish I could draw like that, I am pretty good at drawing too, not like that though.

I get what you're saying. That's just a cutout from a magazine or something...

Oh I see what he's talking about. No, he's just beginning to shade in the background... If you'd take a second to look, you can view his work progress:

Damn, that's crazy.

Seriously, I don't know how he can get all those different shades of colors with just pecils, but whatever mellow.gif

And Syphon, who have you see that draws better than this? I'm calling your, I think you're lying --;
Report, edit, etc...Posted by xMCx on 2006-05-23 at 22:18:09
I don't think that was a pencil drawing. That looked like it was a photo scanned. I could be wrong though.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by HolySin on 2006-05-23 at 22:33:26
Stop being skeptics, yes this guy does in fact use pencil. He does not take photos and simply copy them. By the way Syphon, I'm very curious as to who you think is better.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by xMCx on 2006-05-23 at 22:57:44
Maybe the guys sketches the photographs. I just said it strongly looked like he didn't draw it. It's like on some of those commercials and moview where things are half animation/half real.

u mean computer generation???

no this looks like pencil

u can see the strokes and on some u can see the patterns of the paper/canvas

If you look on his own website, you'll notice how he draws many of his pictures from models then using his own imagination to combine in his drawing. He does not use photographs.

Charles Schultz.

In seriousness, Escher. Although do you count lithography.

That's a different style, I was hoping to get the idea of realism off. Escher just makes interesting drawings/paintings.

If you guys think this level of capturing detail by a human hand is impossible, someone hasn't seen any of the paintings of Andrew Wyeth. Artists use what're called studies, parts of the piece, like just a tree, a log, an apple, etc, and combine them into the later piece. If you went to an art museum when they have a certain artist in you'll probably get to see them.

Uhhh, most portrait artists draw in this same style and quality, it really isn't anything new except for the fact that some 50 year old uses deviantART. If this is the first time that you people have seen portrait art of this quality then you can't just suddenly assume that it is of high quality. If somone watching dragonball all their lives suddenly switches to Naruto, he can't just say that it is the best show in the world. That's a very egocentric way of thinking.
