Can a peaceful, democratic, and social fair world government ever be created? I'm of the opinion that it would have to follow some sort of global catastrophe or other traumatic event for the formation of a one-world government. Besides, many individual political units would probably oppose the foundation of such a far reaching system. I do hope that mankind can have a fair, worldwide government someday, but I feel that it's more than likely far down the road.
What do you think would be the llikelihood of a peaceful transition to a global form of government? Do you think it would take something like a catastrophe to bring about this ideal? Let me here your opinions, and let's try to keep things civil...
http://alien-ufos.com/forum/showthread.php?p=248148I never really thought of this, but now that you make me think of it, I think that it would be one boring world with all the same ideas, say that the United States owned the enitre world, one government for the entire world. It wuould be one giant mess. There would be almost no reason for an army, no reason to build the best and most powerful things. It would be like a life without money. I think this would be a bad idea. It would take a huge catastraphy for this to happen I think. Like a Meteor Shower and the country with the most people would probably take over! But I highly doubt this will ever happen even if there is a big catastrophe!
it wont happen cause it can't. there are too many people that will oppose it. and plus, under their current goverments, the citzens can't vote. if all conteries converted to democray, then you'd have a better chance. but after that, how do we decide who rules earth?
however, the UN could possibly recriut the whole world and that would be our governing body. but as soon as that happens, there will be rebels and people that wanna crash the goverment.
i think the world is best suited as it is currently.
Ya, things like the civil war would occur too much if one government controlled the whole world. The closest thing that will get to this is probably the UN (United Nations) more countries will probably join this, but to people like George Bush, he didnt even wait for these people to tell him it was a bad idea before going into Iraq! Stupid Bush
well by the time we get this as far as to unite the world, we'll probaly have to get off earth cause it would be in such a bad condition that it would be un-inhabatable.
then when we move to mars, or w.e we do, there will be a ton of chaos and the world would become liike it was 500 years ago
history is bound to repeat no matter what we do.
A worderful peaceful country where everybody is happy is just a dream. War, epidemia, hatered & so on are the companions of man throughout the history. They are essential. You cannot create something perfect in those conditions.
yeah... no matter what, we can't contral the will of 6 billion people. its just plain impossible.
Utopia is impossible. like Jammed said, war and such is just part of human life. and if we mangaed to get to utopia, it'd last only for maby a week.
Impossible to achieve peacefully in the near future. Thare are too many minorities that would violently object to becoming part of a larger global state and smother by a vaster majority.
Yea, maybe like 300+ years ago, it is more likely that this is more possible.
There's just too much happening today
yeah but in 300 years, who knows what kinda tech we'll have
but we need to fix those complete nut heads who make this impossible to be peaceful
Unless someone manages to use advanced technology to peacefully 'tap' into the minds of every (or nearly so) human on earth and make them all peaceful and kind (doubtful), no. Civil War, general uprisings, lack of resources (I find myself using this in a lot of topics today.) and all that will make world peace really unlikely.
Perfect worlds cannot be created while there are still humans looking for the easiest or quickest way towards something.
Money will be a large obsticle to overcome because it is the driving force of the world, and so it is the most sought after material item. As long as there is money people will not be able to live in harmoney.
As well as money, religion will slow this process down. Crazy people who think their religion is the right one; theres one of everyone religion. There will be wars fought over this just like there always has been.
The fact that we are human basically rip away the dream of there ever being a utopia. Basically, we are greedy, vengeful, not-even-close to perfect beings. So how can an unpure creature form a pure society? They can't.
Infact, bacteria are closer to this than we are. They do not fight over food or land, they don't have religion or money, they only have one basic instinct: survive. To survive they must eat, and if they cant get any food they cant even comprehend the fact that a different bacteria got it first, thus the inability for greed.
Ignorance is bliss.
Stop dreaming & get back to Earth - there will never be anything perfect, we're not in Heaven, remember.
then that brings the question of weather we are in hell. nothing works out here, there is always chaos running thorugh our socity.
but yes, it wont be perfect ever. or if it is, it'll be with a lot lot less people thats for sure
We aren't in hell either.
There are beautiful things in life, and yes things do work out. You need to have the right mind-set to realize life is so simple and easy, ts just shrowded by greed; we cannot see through it. Watch a sunset or hold a sleeping baby and you'll realize life is pretty good

I think a vision of Everyone holding hands and singing "we are the world" isn't gonna happen any time soon, if ever. People from the same ethnicities and families don't even get along with each other. People quarrel over very stagnant issues.
"World Peace" will come if or when there are more graves than live humans. Because afterwards it would be real freakin' quiet.
Of All of the "-isms" and "-ocracies" found in politics they have at least one thing in common. Failure.
Most of us can be grateful that we don't live in total poverty, or under the iron fist of dictatorship but history has taught us too well that it can happen fast, and it can happen to you.
Most political platforms date back to ancient Greece. So, um... how 'bout some fresh perspective? I mean c'mon you'd think a few thousand years would bring on some sort of significant social changes, creativity, something. Ok, there have been a few. If there had been enough then we wouldn't be having this conversation.
No one likes to hear the words 'New World Order'... well I guess some people do, but in effect it would require some sort of social evolution or revelation. Such a thing being imposed by a monolithic organization is like forcing the hand of nature, pissing in the wind so to speak.
There has been mention of an outside threat, but is that something that we can do for ourselves? Create an illusory enemy that will coalesce humanity? Doubt it, but wouldn't surprise me.
We can hope that something comes along and answers a lot of questions like is there life out there and will it unite us? So we wait for the resounding "Yes, and its here to make you dead." But whats the point in that? You're supposed to "hope for the best, and prepare for the worst", as the saying goes, not the other way around.
Waiting for it to happen isn't going to make it happen.

How about this version:
As long as human kind exists, political corruption will continue to be in hand with any form of government.
No.
Capitalism causes Greed. Greed causes corruption of the mind; Hence, Capitalism == Evil
Humans are only twisted by their emotions which are manipulated by real world entities.

I think it's half true.
I think the other half is our nature - we allways want more, we develop becawse of it, we are born with it. And combined with intellect we get what we want.
ADDITION:
Greed existed before Capitalism.

Capitalism does not cause Greed.
Greed creates Capitalism.Any form of government can lead to corruption. That's why there's no perfect government system. And seeing how things are going right now, there will never be one.

You read my mind! I think a huge catastrophe would be necessary before anyone on earth will even begin to trust each other. I'm actually thinking along the lines of an entire country destroyed or a huge decline in population. A terrible price to pay for the unity, but it might be necessary for the greater good later on. (I'm not saying someone should go invent something that would eliminate half the population!)
I think you guys are off topic with the discussion of individual government types! Keep to the topic.
A common enemy of the planet, such as aliens would probably be a unifying force.
