There is belief that the continents will once again be touching each other or very very close. 1 - 2 miles apart. What kind of affect would this have on wars and other conflicts between countries, give details!

I doubt that mankind will exist when the continents will come together.

Well actually the tectonic plates of the earth move fairly quicky (ex. the north american plate moves 5cm/yr). I don't think its a question of 'will mankind exist when continents come together' it is a question of multiple aspects. What was the rate of tectonic movement in previous geologic times? How will the continents possibly fit together the way they were originally(won't happen)? Well to answer the original question. I don't think it will ever happen for the simple fact that they won't fit. Maybe some will touch eachother but not all at the same time. About the war and such... When and if this ever does happen war will not be what we imagine it to be today. Just like how we fight wars today compared to previous wars. The only thing certain about war is that it will continue to happen as long as humans exist. So only time can answer that question wink.gif

That true but lets just say that we still fought wars the way we do today and the countries touched in some areas and stuff, just so we see what people come up with, because I know that thye wont come together perfectly its that they will collide and touch in some parts. War will be way different. Pangaea was around about 200 million years ago. Give or take a couple million years. So war willbe like with lazers and invisible people or something. that'd be krazy!!

well if u think about it, a big reason the USA is so strong is cause we are isolated from the rest of the world. if we were next to another contrey of power, then we might run into problems. espcally if we were at war.

i think that we'll be long gone before all the contenants align again. at our rate of polution and such, earth will be depleted and will not support life

Humans probably wont survive that long...

The sun will explode before that happens.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-05-28 at 21:04:42
The sun still has a good 5 billion years left in it.

I think by that time we'll become one unified nation or something, so there won't be anybody to have war with tongue.gif

And by then war might be a whole different thing than what it is now.

And it took 70 Million years to seperate the continents.

No.... The earth has only been around for like 4.8 billion years..

*Million

That's still a long time, and I doubt any of us will be here when we see a noticeable difference of continental drift. Actually I doubt any of our family members will be around by then :/

No.. Billion...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth

"The Earth was formed around 4.57 billion (4.57×109)[1] years ago (see Age of the Earth) and its largest natural satellite, the Moon, was orbiting it shortly thereafter, around 4.533 billion years ago."

And we're not talking about family members or us, just what would happen.

I thought you were correcting me.

Try not to insult me, either. You're the one who didn't specify what you were correcting.

My bad.

human race will be extinct way before the sun burns out. that is for sure.

I doubt humans would be living on earth only by that time.

I dont think Earth would even exist by that time.

Yeah, probably our (humans) huge intellect will blow it up with nuclear weapons, or even worser weapons.
