Txt trigger... ? You mean "Display Text for Current Player" trigger? If so, what are you looking for. Andvanced editors like Starforge have a string editor, which lets you preview strings, although not totally accurate. When making a request, please try to be specific.

I think uve been juked by ure friend. theres no text program,u just trigger it through any staredit program. If ure talking about colored text i'm sure its in the downloads here somewhere.

Why would you download a colored text program? Just use a normal editor; they all have perfectly well-working text color-adders. dots.gif

Not normal staredit or scm draft or etc. He might be new to mapmaking chill out.

He might mean how you can export triggers with GUEdit.

he might mean the program trg2txt, that i used at one point, but probably don't have. It changed .trg to .txt like GUEdit does. and change them back (I used it for P12 triggers and stuff) I don't remember what site i found it on.

Holy crap!?! I get what you are saying now. I have never heard of such a program... Is your friend's bound Bnet compatable? I bet you could make a MOD like that, but I've never heard of a map like that...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by iamacow on 2004-07-25 at 16:54:18
Errr... post an example of a map with this if you can. I don't think you can actaully do this without modding. but you probabl could with it because there already are text activated things (cheats)

LOL GUYS! That's not even possible, I find it likely that your friend has set an elaborate trick for you. He pretends to say something and then somewhere else on the map moves a civilian to a beacon that is what REALLY causes the effect to happen. If not that you're a moron, or you're playing WC3 and not SC...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-07-25 at 18:02:22
Not possible? No, just implausible.
It is possible to create a program that interprets your text into trigger, and is less strict than Starforge...

Zero, Sure you got right game? Sounds very much like warcraft 3.

I hate WarCraft 3 and it's trivia maps!! Also I hate it's name-sensing... Why can't we have a SC 2?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SaLaCiouS(U) on 2004-07-25 at 20:44:24
Ok I'd just like to point out to everyone that EzDay2 just said it was implausible but not impossible to run a trigger in StarCraft based on what the players have said...

No where in the editor is there a condition to interpret what people are saying and run actions based on this. There never will be without modding, which doesn't work on Battle.net anyway, so it doesn't matter. There are limits to what StarCraft can do, and this is one area StarCraft falls short in.

Actualy, it is possible.
If you were to create an "intelligent" program that understands what you mean and can create a matching trgger, or if it is as strict as Starforge but can automaticaly make triggers for, say, an Rp's spawn thing, as long as the trigger you told it to make exists, itwould work. I'm not sure what zerox922 means by what he said, so I'm not sure what's so special about the program other than making triggering easier..

Uh... I don't think anyone is debating that if you created an entirely new program you could do that. Blizzard already did it, it's called WarCraft 3. That however, has nothing to with what StarCraft can do.

The only keyboard input that a trigger can have is the ESC key. If not you need you use some "tricks", like hotkeys for build units.

First of all, read my post.

Second of all, EZDay isn't saying there is a trigger for it it. He says:

Meaning if you are an Uber C++ programmer, you might be able to write an application addon to your map to do this...

Couldn’t you say that about anything?

Actually probabally not ANYTHING.. like major modding. (When i say make the program, I mean and keep map Bnet compatable.) But you have a good point... pinch.gif

no it is possible my friend's name is flowman
his the only 1 that can be player 1.
if any 1 eles is the map auto boots them.
ill try and post the map.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Clokr_ on 2004-07-26 at 13:02:51
That's impossible.
I can't download the map, but I think that he should have put a system so if p1 does an action at the start the map doesnt ban him, but if he doesnt do that then boot.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2004-07-26 at 13:14:27
all he did was make it so you can't be player 1 and it displays you're not flowman.

I played single player under the ID flowman (i was stupid enough to try pinch.gif ) and it still kicked

Right here ladies and gentlemen, is obvious proof that he was faking it all along. He creates a fake map that boots you all the time, just to trick you into thinking he is a gosu map maker. In reality he has another map, which most likely has a seperate area where he actives the triggers, and says stuff at just the right time so that it looks like what he is saying is causing them to activate. You've been tricked, duped, had, manipulated, run up the wall, twisted in circles, thrown in the air, and any other lame expressions anyone can come up with. End of story.
