Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> Unknown lag in B.net
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2006-05-30 at 15:54:55
I have been experiencing some weird lag in battle.net after I lost my hard drive. My net works as before everywhere except Starcraft. In offline modes SC runs normally, as well as in channels. But when I join a game or someone joins my game the nightmare begins. It lags like theres no tomorrow, fps is like 1 or 0.5. HorroR and few other testers suffered the same stuff when played with me.

If someone can help me solve this problem, please help. helpsmilie.gif

Deleting the bncache file helps.

When you reinstalled did you delete like everything that has o do with StarCraft, like maps and anything else that would have saved itself, could be some form of virus, I got a virus from a player once and it lagged, and I reinstalled it then deleted everything that was in the Starcraft folder and it worked fine!

Deleted bncache.dat
Deleted "characters" folder
Scanned for viruses
Didn't delete maps because I haven't downloaded any maps from a public game since HD loss...

If you have a modem, update it. Ask all my B.net friends, my lag was pure gone after updating the modem. But, you probably have DSL/Cable sad.gif.

Update modem? Like drivers or something?

I'd recommend posting your problem to the open tech support on Blizzard's website, rather than here. People deal with this type of stuff every day.

I'd say it has to do something with a firewall. =\

I already checked there. They always respond the same...
"get video drivers, check firewall, proxy, router, do stuff"
Tried it all...
Turned firewall off. Didn't work pinch.gif

So you're on dial up? (If not, ignore this) Go to your connection properties, then modem properties, and update it from there.

Have you tried playing with no programs running besides StarCraft?

Yea, although before HD loss I played with everything running and it didn't lag.
