Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> Ideas -> Any Sacred-like RPG ideas?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dr4goN on 2006-05-31 at 14:19:30
First of all, how do I start my project. What editors should be the best ones? What story? I want gameplay to be like Sacred. You choose your destiny, walk in to a city, smash up the mobs on your road, complete quests, earn XP and... how to advance on a level. I think the best example would be the Deleas' Corruption RPG. Anything else I should have in my map? To have it ideally balanced?
Thanks for response.

SCMD is the best editor.

well yes i agree that editor is fairly good but the second you get the hang of map making learn how to use scm draft 2. that editor is extremley powerful and will serve you well

Yeah, I'm using Scmdraft 2 but what about StarForge? Been using this editor for a long time.
First problem looks solved. Now, how to make the map?

I would use ScmDraft 2 (Terrain), GuEdit (Player Colors and Protection) and Starcraft Extra Editor (Everything Else)...
Mabye The Main character should be a mercenary...maybe you can make it a futuristic rpg, replace quest with missions and earn exp for completing objectives....instead of levels, it could be ranks.....just a thought

No, just use SCMD for everything (unless you're more confortable with SF, but I suggest you get used to SCMD). GUEdit is outdated; you can do player colors with SCMD/SF, and protect with, of course, Uberation. SCXE is also obselete. It can't do anything that the other 2 editors can't.

Yep, good ideas.
@Noober - SCXE is sooooo obsolete... I remember *about* '99 when I was usin' it...(maybe the old version, I don't remember). And Scmdraft is also good but I still must to figure out the color commands.

@Elric111 - It will be a futuristic map so there will be missions. And ranks are a good idea, never thought of using them.

Uberation is good for protecting map so I think I should use it...
Also, I have to work out the correct HPs for the hero and enemies. And, I need motivation. Map making is boring closedeyes.gif

I prefer StarForge over SCMDraft2 for terraining because the isom works better. SCMDRAFT2 tries too hard to blend for you but when you know how to blend certain points which the editor can't, StarForge works FAR better.

Also you must remember that Starforge's ISOM places just that structure, SCMDraft 2 places the whole structure, which can get annoying when you're doing an all custom terrain map.

Ok. Thanks for all replies. I've found my old map... it was quite funny on how I solved quests without using switches lol. Close please.
