Alot of music isn't particularly hard to make, but it doesn't stop it from sounding good. The key thing in music is whether it sounds good or not. You can work for thirty years on an opera with the best orchestra in the world, the best singers, etc. and it can still sound like crap. I mean, stuff that took no talent to create obviously sounds lousy, but there's effort put into other forms of music than instrumental/classical/opera.

I've found your criticisms on contemporary music a tad immature and presumptous.

Not all really electronica/dance, but non-rock.

Pretty much the same thing as Wilhelm put, but I'll include:
-Aerosmith
-The Eagles
-The Beatles

I find that it isn't complicated music that I like, but rather music that is clean, nothing like playing your instrument as loud as possible. Hence why I tend to like classic rock more than the garbage thats on the radio today.

One of my friends said, "Dude, you have to hear this, it's called 'Eight Dead, Nine if You Count the Fetus!'" Instantly, the sound of the song filled me with endless rage. I hate metal screamo mix bands, they hurt my ears. It's almost like listening to static at full blast. Also, the other bands are those whiney boy bands that recycle the same chord progression over and over again with only one song on their albums that breaks away from that. I hate music that just sounds the same as every other song the composer has done. Just my thoughts.

If you want to fit in, listen to what your teenage friends are listening to. And learn a little bit about their bands too. Music talk is cool talk for most groups. Espeicially for those artist kids.

If that's not your goal, then coming here might be the right move.

You should get out of all that crap and go into country.  Country is the best stuff to listen too.  Its not people just screaming at the top of their lungs, they actually say words that make sence too!

I don't like country because it's just boring, IMO. I don't like the way they pronounce their words, but I like bluegrass influenced music. Idk =\

I personally like Indie and Alternative musics. Here's a couple good ones.

Dave Matthews Band
Blues Traveler
Bright Eyes
Artic Monkeys
Snow Patrol
Switchfoot
Relient K
Carbon Leaf
Ben Folds
Death Cab For Cutie
The Postal Service (lead singer from DCFC's side project, same style but more technoey)
Nickel Creek (Kinda bluegrassy)

Most of the stuff, if not all, you can listen to or sample at http://artistdirect.com . If you have myspace, I have the singles for all I could find in my profile ( http://myspace.com/kowzorz )

#1 reason why country is bad: Their artists are full of it. It feels like they are all singing about the same thing the same way. Even though I even had the sound of it I know it isnt bad(like rap) because its a taste thing. I am not saying they're all full of it. There was this one song where I could actually feel like the artist meant it, it was some thing like "I just wanna go home..." it was really good. Does desperado count?

If 3 days grace ever confronts you with their crap, change the station/channel for the good of your soul. They have either COMPLETELY souled out, or they have always been retarded to begin with. For starters, the amount of repitition in their songs could rival a lil jon rap. When it comes the their lyrics, they are just telling you whats happening, I feel like im 'trapped in the closest' listen to this trash. There are NO metaphors! There's no room for individual interpretation. I mean, they are the antithesis of 'deep'. I can only see this kind of music acceptable for the seriously retarded(like my cousin, he LOVES three days grace, but he doesnt know any better). Then its ok, because its too hard for you to think about the songs meaning with out them bashing your face in getting their point across. When bands do this it shows how smart they really think their fans are.
