last night, we had just gone to bed and i was checkin my phone messages when somebody rang our doorbell and ran off and got in their car. i got up and watched them get in the car and i heard the car door slam shut. they just drove off. im pretty sure it wasn't a prank cause i live in the middle of nowhere, and our driveway is like a mile long. so my whole famliy got up and we were like WTF, was that our door bell? at first i thought it was the UPS guy but i saw the car. so about 20 mins later, im lookin out my window and the same car i saw eariler pulled up to my neighbors. they parked in the middle of the road. they kept the car on, and like 5 people got out and had stuff in their hands. i couldn't see what they had cause it was dark, but then they walk around their house about 10 times and then they just left. i saw them drive by like 10 more times on the road by our house.

now i dont know if i should've called the cops or what. i have a suspision they were vandalizing that house but i never saw them do it. and if they were doin it to them, could it be possible for them to do it to us and we not know it?

and idk if they will come back again tonight or not.

what was weird about it was 2 things; whenever someone pulls up in our driveway, our dogs bark a lot. secondly, it rang like 5 minutes after we turned out lights off.

what do u think, are these guys robbers or vandals or wtf were they doing do you think, and what should i do about it?

I would let someone know, or tell the people they are coming to there house and stuff. Talk to the neighbors and see if they know anything, if not... Call the police. I'm sure they will leave 2-3 cop cars outside and around the house to keep watch and if they see anything suspicious that the neighbors know nothing about, they will be arrested.

Seems like they were african-knocking, and toilet-pappering houses. I used to do it all the time.

Just tell the neighbors what you saw, and if it happens again, call the cops.

Actually since you live in the middle of nowhere, your house may be the perfect target for vandalism. Next time you see the car, try to get the license plate. If something does happen, that way you can tell the police the plate numbers so its easier to catch 'em.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, though. It may just be a bunch of pranksters.

Well that is sketchy.. You see i would call the cops. They are suspicious and causing trouble and that is a domestic disturbance which is a serious defence now a days. You should call the cops in my oppinion.

These guys could be robbers or sth, maybe they called u, to see if someone's at home, maybe they noticed u reacted by turning on the lights or sth, so they ran off, then they got to neighbours, maybe no one responded, so they vandalized em, or maybe they looked through the windows to see if they have anything valuable...

I would definately ask neighbours if they know, if not i would tell em, that some suspiciuos ppl were wandering around their house...

Because, as you said, you have a mile long driveway. If they were going to rob the place, they need a getaway car. They aren't gonna run home with jewels and other valuables in their pockets.

As far as pranking goes, again it may be that they are lazy teenagers. The car makes it easy to ding dong and then ditch.

then they were obivously no pranking. they didn't leave in a hurry and they drove in a car. but they didn't rob our house, that is the weird part. they come all the way out here to ring our doorbell? maby to distract us as they break into the basement... hmmm this is a bad situation...

Did u asked the neighbours whose house they were walking around? If the neighbours just found some Grafitty or such u can relax, they're just some dumb drunk teens doing pranks..

i never know where they are home lol. right now, im guessing, since there's no cars they arn't.

If you can't find your lawn gnome, at least you know who did it

ok like 20 mins ago, the exact same car pulled into our other neighebors driveway and they got out. they looked around and got back in and left.

im thinkin they are gona come back tonight.

maybe someone got hurt and they're trying to get help

i seriously doubt that cuase they wouldn't walk all the way around the house several times if some one if hurt.

i've seen it before...the person doesnt know where the front door is and goes around the house in a hurry then leaves because no one is coming out

the front door is pretty clear on their house. they got a sidewalk goin to it and they have a light on.

If they come back, call the police. That's the most obviosu thing. Since they came back to scope out the house again, they aren't pranksters. As I said, the best thing you can do is get the license plate number. That way if anything does happen, you can inform the proper officials and have a tracking device for them.

I have yet another theory, but i doubt that it could be possible, i still would expect a robbery after some time, after they pick which house to rob.

Anyway, the doubtfull theory would be: since u said the neighbours are almost never at home, maybe they asked someone to look after their house, so a guy just takes some friends to accopany him when he checks out the house.. But that still doesn't explain the door bell, maybe it took so long for u to get to the door that tehy left? or sth?

ahah.. sounds like a pretty cool situation ur in.. they probably are going to rob the house if nobody is home. So.. is it the next day after they came to the houses now? If it is, did anything happen? lol.

well the neighbors are home later in the night. they got 2 kids in collage and they bth work unitl like 10 30. so we really dont wanna bother them at 10 at night. doubt they are "looking after" the house
