[Solved]Okay, I tried my shot at it and failed, quite a bit. The thing I was trying to do is one of two things.

1. Put a message in a picture veiwable only through no0tepad so that the picture is asscessible and fully editable ( but when resaved, they extra message is wiped away )

2. Make is so when a few comp language is removed, they picture changes to something else.

I heard about this, but have never accually seen it. I tried it and everytime I open the pictue in notepad and Save As, the pic becomes curropted... The idea is so that an innocent picture of your old grandma can accually hold instructions on how to create a nuclear weapon or something. I hope this is not allowed by SEN.

I LEARNED HOW TO DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! MUAHHAHAHAHA.

Okay, listen carefully:

Open the picture with WORDPAD and at the end typed in what I wanted to say. SAVE AS. Save with the name Test.bmp and Save as the file type: Text Document MS-DOS Format. Or save as file type: Text Document.

Almost every filetype works. Jpeg, Jpg, gif, png, and bmp.

Saving the file format as Text Document MS-DOS Format will result in the picture being f**ked. Saving it as Text Document will keep the original picture.

ADDITION:
Okay, listen up.

Here is the original pic with no writting in it:
[attachmentid=19296]

Here is when it is saved in MS-DOS format:
[attachmentid=19297]

Here it shows that you can type as much text as you want in the file:
[attachmentid=19298]

To view the text, open each file in WORDPAD and scroll to the bottom of the computer language.

-----
I did try colored pictures. I dont have them on the laptop, but, most of the pics were encrypted... so they scrambled themselves...

I can't think of a logical wa to do something like that... unless there's some sort of byte sequence that says "ignore the rest of the file"

You could always make a watermark.

Pretty cool. You need to use a spellcheck though tongue.gif and you often use "your" in place of "you're" (if it was even you that wrote that tongue.gif )

Sorry, I can't find the watermarking document.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by A_of_s_t on 2006-06-08 at 16:51:37
What exactly is the watermarking? Is the whole picture like that or is it just parts of it that have text?

Some colored pics wont work. Picture with only three colors > work. I have not succesfully done it with a full colored picture. I did one, but it was encrypted, so when I saved it, it screwed up.

You can put it wherever you want on the picture. But it's easy to find if you highlight the picture.

I can't do it! :/
When i open a simple picture (white bg with a black number 5) in Wordpad it makes the whole picture a single line of text, i try to get to the end of it with a scroolbar, but when i get there, if i stretch the screen there is still txt after that, so i can't reach the end..

View > Options > Wrap to Window. smile.gif
Or just use Notepad and Format > Word Wrap.

:: Edit
If you wanted to hide a picture, you could place the stuff for the second picture after some sort of separator, then write some program that would read all the stuff after the separator and display it. (Just have to get some libraries for various formats).

Thanks! It works now, but i can only get the "Text Document MS-DOS Format" to work, if i choose just "Text Document" it gets corrupted...

*Edit

Nevermind that corruption was because of a blank line i placed after the image code..

Thanks, A_of_s_t, some kinda secret-information-hiding-technique, was just what i've been looking for. This one seems very nice smile.gif

I HAD NOTHIN TO DO WITH HITLER!!!! I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THERE WAS A WAR GOING ON!

lol. I still need to figure out the second part... See if two pictures can be fused into one document.

I've read that there are programs that embed one picture into another, then you send the picture to whoever needs it, and that person just changes some colors settings and stuff In Photoshop, and he sees the hidden image smile.gif

It is said that Osama uses this technique for giving orders.

Steganography FTW!

My guess is that those programs arent given to the general public. shifty.gif
