Many of you know that recently I was sick, and that i'm currently fixing up my apartment which I'll be using for College and I've also been going to College for interviews and to turn in some papers. Well, bad luck has seem to struck me and the regular computer that I use has died on me.
I was installing a new wireless card to test it out for when I get my laptop, I put it in the PCI slot just fine, no problems, but when I tried to turn it on, the monitor wouldn't turn on and the PC wouldn't make the same beeps and noises that it always did. I remembered that I had a bad PCI slot, so i took the wireless card away, removed my old 56k Modem, which wasn't in use, and put my wireless card there. Still, my monitor wouldn't turn on and the computer wouldn't fire up. So i opened the case again, and turned it on. It's awesome to see your computer while it's on, you get to see all the little LED's turn on and the fan swirl, and I logged into my Windows account whit no problems.
So I thought that I had fixed it, so I turn the PC off, close the case, and turn it on. Still the same problem, I then tried to turn it on with the case opened but it really didn't do anything. I kept trying, checking every cable, every card, every drive and I never got it to turn on again.
So my dad is taking it to be fixed today, I presume that it's dead. I've ordered a laptop about a week ago, still hasn't gotten here so I'm on the good computer at my house, which I have to share with 3 other people and one of my programs(Not even Firefox) is installed.
No Beer?
Well, best of luck with the computer troubles. Two Gmods down!
Good luck with that, Beer.
Oh yes, DTBK and LW will have some hard time.
You haven't posted in a few weeks anyway, another two won't kill anyone.
Alright, here's an update on my situation.
I took my old computer to a computer fixing store and they found that one of my hardrives(the one with everything on it) had fried along with my Video card. So I had a new hardrive and Video card installed and brought it home. Initially, I was surprised that they actually transfered all the data from my old harddrive to the new one. The computer seemed fine at first, but as always, I like to test it out. The DSL connection was fine, now I'm going to put in the wireless card to see how it worked. Now, system performance isn't the same, it's way slower now. I tested it with WoW and it was just unplayable. I do think that a good defragmentation will do good, and I'll be testing around to see what system resources I can free up.
My laptop arrived yesterday, just got it running this morning and I'm currently posting from it. I hate the mouse and I hate the keyboard, but that can be fixed by connecting external ones to the laptop. Everything else about it is great. If any of you wants to know, it has dual 1.66Ghz procesors, 1GB RAM, 256MB Video Card, 80GB HD, DVD R/RW drive, Bluetooth wireless, 15.4 Flatscreen LCD, 2 batteries with extended life and a bunchload of other stuff that I still havent figured out.
I'm out now, going to my old computer and attempt to fix it up.
That's a pretty beastily RAM for a Laptop
