Almighty Architect (by Smilodon)

Map is in moderated public testing mode.

There is one Architect player who has powers over all other players. He makes the rules, storyline and objectives in the game. With good Architect (who can assign interesting missions to players and make stuff happen really fast) you can experience the ultimate campaign style game ! (Or test your clanmates in different situation for example).

NB! You might get very dissapointed if you join a random server, where the "Architect" player is just mad or newbie. Try to play it with your friends and dont beg stuff. Roleplay - you represent your people, try not to lose them.

Progress
• Whole progress 85%
This bar will go backwards, if i get some great and time consuming ideas to add.

• Version number - 0.0.9.4
The full release will not be 1.0.0.0, so dont panic, it can be any version.

Storyline / Introduction
• The story is made by the Architect player in real time.
As the objectives and missions.

Terrain
• Note that terrain is not very important. Because when finihing all triggers i can make many versions of this map with different terrains and terrain types.
• Type - Jungle
• Size - 128x128
• Terrain is custom, depending on the terrain subversion.

Misc things
• Power lock
To play as Architect you MUST take a lesson of how the controls work. There is no ingame tutorial, because the players will get very bored if a noob Architect reads the tutorials for the first 15 minutes (yes 15 min, im not joking - there are so many controls)

Architect Powers
• Vision And Allie Status control (Not fully tested)
Architect can force vision and allie status for any player.

• Unit Creation
Architect can create any unit 1by1, 3by3, 9by9 or 18by18 to anywhere on the map using finger units.

• Unit Giving / Taking
Architect can give any unit on the map to any player he wishes by using finger units. With mass controls he can give/take all men/buildings of selected player(s) to any player he likes. You can also give units to Player 9 and 10, and then mass give all player 9 ro 10 units to someone who deserves them.

• Mineral / Gas
Architect can give and take money from any player he wants.

• Leaderboard
Architect can actually choose the leaderboard display. If sacrificing is enabled, then it will count sacrificing points (disabling sacrificing will show zeroes again).

• Countdown timer
Architect can make the countdown to display whatever time he wants.

• Sacrificing System
At the beginning there is no sacrificing at all ! Architect does not need to enable this system, this is not a MUST, but it is a lot better than in God's Land map.

• AI System
The Architect can execute Insane AI scripts, but these wont work sometimes, so i dont recommend using them. There is also a trigger, that sends all AI units to attack randomly chosen units.

• Mass moving
The Architect can mass move all units for any player he wants.

• The Control Panel
This is an area where Architect has all the possible buildings. Its for researching, not for creating units. There are also all possible triggers to control all the other actions.

The problem with the old classic God's Land games were how most people always wanted to be God and quit if they weren't. However, a map with this many features will hopefully make it fun for the non-God players, as well. Good luck with the game, it looks sweet smile.gif

the problem with this map is some ppl abuse god. They will kill everyone for no reason and ruin the game. The original one isnt successful and it isnt even fun, why not try to make a different map?

Echo your damn right. I have had some "Idiot God player" games. Miserable. But why do you think im making a new and improved version ?.. because of a lot of fun games on previous verions. I eaven like to be more as a player if the GOD is good.

But the god isnt always the one responsible on the gameplay. Every player is. Onec i was GOD. I made a reward rule. Some players got it and the other ones left because they THOUGHT they are doomed, though i was gonna help them a bit to stay alive (doing the help thing forever is also not good actually, but this was the first one).

I hope " GOD power lock " will spook off some lame GODs. As every GOD player needs to go over the lessons and those " kill all on the map " guys are not so sick to waste time on tutorials to get the combination code. If anyone has better ideas how to spook them of, then im a big ear.

Remember that if you JOIN a GOD game, you will be asked to be the player. This is for 90% of the times. So just make your own game if you really want to be the GOD.

I have made it to 0.0.3.0 for now. But i dont have much time to update the feature list... its huge and takes a long time. The process is still same far (edit: at 78%), because i rebuilt some major systems. The final file should also now be smaller than before without the rebuilt systems. But it's still gonna go over 500kb i think. Oh, and i have 5 more free locations... soon the limit will show up.

Poor you, be annoyed with the limits piss off, huh? And with all the work you put in this map, we can't let the locations ruin it! You should remove somme inutile things before its too late... i know, nothing seems inutile but you surely added somethign a bit too stupid? Anyway, if you dont, i jus hope you will be able to do it with 5 locations left mellow.gif

I have 2 more left now lol. But i cant remove much... GOD needs those options to be a GOD. Im using multiple units on one location in many systems. Move unit1 and move unit2 will trigger a different action.
If GOD has all his "buttons" then he has protoss supply limit. About 100 zerg and terran units too. So that god could also play the game.. im gonna use the 2 triggers left to make a "button give away" option. So GOD can give all his buttons to P11 and free supply limits if he wants that.

I got a suggestion..
If the "GOD" player is an mean person, why not set up a feature that allows the non-God players to Ban him and the next person in line becomes God? wink.gif

That would be sweet.
Just remember to NOT end scenario in defeat, that way he doesn't get to quit the lazy way. Make him think about what he did by having him move his mouse all the way to the MENU for an extra punch to the gut. smile.gif (Make sure to give away all his units so he can't play if he decided to stay.) hehe I'm GOD. good*

Wow... that would be cool. But all the players have to say "yes" to the ban for it to happen. Nice idea.

Now lets look over the doability. Its gonna very tricky...

At the moment GOD is P7 and P1-P6 are the players.
So i need to give P1-P6 some "buttons" to say "yes" to the banning. If all say yes (move unit to location yes) then all P7 units will be given to (player ?).

Now i need to make a randomisation somehow... Need to make an always randomize switchP1, then switchP2, switchP3... switchP6. And then some excluder triggers. If switchP1 is set, then switchP2-switchP6 are cleared. This should work.. i have never tested switch randomising...

Now if all players say yes and for example switchP1 is set, then remove all GOD units in The World and give all GOD units in GOD CP to P1.

I also need to make the map to recognize which player is GOD at the moment. So any new GOD could be also banned with voting. So i need another 8 swithces. SwitchP1isGOD, SwitchP2isGOD, SwitchP3isGOD...

I also need to move all GOD action triggers to "All players" and use current player on "button" functions in GOD CP area. This is gonna take a lot time.

I had the map almost finished today morning lol...

ADDITION:
0 locations left. I have used existing locations to add new functions. Just changing the unit type what triggers the actions.... This is really huge.

I don't think the "Vote God Off" system is a good idea. Aside from having to go through the difficult task of implementing it without bugs in the triggers, you also lose realism: when has a real-world religion's deity ever been "voted" off?

If the person playing God is an idiot, he wouldn't have passed your "God Test".

If the person playing God is just mean... shouldn't he be able to do that because he's GOD?

Yes, i know that. Thats a good point and i have been thinking about it.

BUT... If the players dont like GOD, or it gets very boring then they leave because they can. And its not possible to make them stay. It's still a StarCraft map, not a whole new game.

The voting system would make the game last longer as new GOD will be chosen. But then the new god has to re-open GOD powers (GOD power lock). The new god will be randomly chosen (without random some player slots would be more favoured)... so the chance that he knows the combination is very small. He will be banned very soon for not knowing the lock combination.

So i think im gonna cancel the voting system because there is no point. The game is ruined if players area leaving and voting system will not make the game last longer or improve the situation for the players - it would only make things worse.

I have most of the polishing done. But the creation of the GOD lessons is still in progress. Im creating the tutorial file in flash format. Gonna make 3 mirrors on different hosts, so if one of the sites is offline, then others are not. The map will also be downloadable from these sites.

Im going to write the GOD power lock combination in it, but you will get it only if you read all the tutorial through. After this i need to upload the flash, put some links to the map and it's ready. It's gonna take time, because now i have less time to spend on this map.

Maybe uberation did it by compressing it, but im not sure.
There are some people online who have this map, i tested it online.

But i think i have to re-make everything now from zero.

Sorry to hear about the bugs springing up. That power lock and tutorial is a great idea. Played too many games where the god player decided to help only one person and ruin it for everyone else. Good luck on finishing it, we really need a new god-map out there.

Yesterday i played God's land again.
The god said... "you will get units after every 25 sacrifices". And then he pissed off when we didnt sacrifice becasue he got bored lol. And he told, that its better if there are all 5 players in the game. But actually, the less players, the better - you can handle them and spook off their boredom happy.gif

It's really easy to create a "Hero Creator". After giving up some units you get a hero - and there is no GOD player needed for this.

GOD should create missions and conditions, not act as a missing map trigger what gives a hero after some sacrifices.

But i think i need to change my map's name. Everyone think it's an improved GOD's land. They assume sacrificing is a "must" in this map. Actually its a multiplayer custom campaign, where GOD creates the conditions. You need to be able to follow god's storyline, play along, and survive to the end.

Any suggestions for the namechange ?

I disagree... How is it similar to RPG ? I mean a classical roleplay where you are one person. In the "God's Land" The god really represents GOD and he has angels and jesus and stuff... Here, the "god" can just play anyone... he could play an evil emperor who is holding the most powerful crystal which players must get to win.

It's more like a dynamic RTS with changing objectives...
with freestyle conditions melee like UMS map.

Sounds good, the coolest god game would be a 1 player game, where you are god. You control the computers (7) all civillians and bad guys. You can basicly do anything you want, mind control people. destroy people, buidlings, kill people, start fires and riots, now that would be cool biggrin.gif

dungeons and dragons and RPGs are two related genres, with noticable differences. DND involve a 'dungeon master,' exactly like how your god is. It is more similiar to an RP map than an RPG though.

Yes, the GOD is like "dungeon master"... i didnt figure it before. All i knew was that in any RPG and DND games you usually control only 1 guy and you roleplay, as play someone who you actually are not.

If i would create a "king" unit for every player, then yes it would be DND with major strategy elements. But in DND, if you lose your player, your out ! In my map you can lose everything, but your out only if god wants you out smile.gif He can give you some money and workers to build a new base if he likes... Thats very freestylish smile.gif


But i want to rename the map. Too many people assume it's like GOD's Land or something. And i want to rename the GOD player too... In many ways GOD is thought as a good character who and the Devil is the opposite.

In my game the GOD can be really nasty if he wants to. Like in Black&White if anyone has played it. There are many god's. But a lot of people think there is only one GOD. So the "GOD" is not a good name for the "dungeon master" player.

Any name ideas ?

blink.gif Trigger hard ? Lol... i have triggered myself nuts for 3 times. I have reached 2 different limits 4 times and i have restarted the whole project from zero for 3 times.

At the moment i can rapidly trigger because i can use SOME triggers from old versions of this map. The logic in this version is better and i plan to keep the map size small... last full release (for testing) was 467kb. The"OLD" screenshots and lessons are from this.

These type of maps are power abuse maps. Some jerk would join a game and just mass the players
