My starcraft has just suddenly gone insane. I put in the CD, it comes up with the autoplay thing, I click 'Play Brood War'...and it tells me my CD is not in the drive. Wtf?

Oh this has happen to me with Warcraft III and I found it was due to a very deep yet small scratch.

Seems to me like your disk is damaged.

seems to me this has nothing to do with mapping or assistance and should be moved / locked :s

Did you try placing the disk into the other drive?

If you have two CD drives, Blizzard disks have any annoying property that they only read one of the two drives for searching for disk files.

I put both disks in at the same time (in seperate drives) and I can play either... Strange?

I can play mine in either drive. Anyway, this has nothing to do with mapping.

As can I...
Cover your whole disk in toothpaste, put a clothe over it and turn it clothe + toothpaste side down for about a half hour, then wipe the toothpaste off well. This should fix it.

Are they two drives on different IDE ports or a master and slave? I have two drives on one IDE port (master and slave) and only (if I remeber which was set which) the slave drive is read.

Your joking right?

Toothpaste is a basic cleaning substance, it should work. I do not, however, reccoment using a rough cloth or going around the disk for a long time. Go from the inside out, all around the disk.

GAH? I have no idea. I'll try and find out... Well, I don't know how to tell... But one is a CD/DVD RW and the other's a DVD drive.

Two different CDs, both clean and scratch-free. One CD drive.
