Ok, I'm starting a new map, and the only thing I'm having trouble with is the terrain, I suck at terrain and I was wondering if someone could design a city for me?

Hopefully badlands city, with lots of roads and a space at top to choose things, also if possible make it 192x192.

Thanks in advance.

I could probably make some terrain for you, but between making terrain for Darkened, and Newbkid's RE map, I don't know if I'll have time. pinch.gif

Although I'm not uber 1337 at making terrains I'm quite good and if it weren't for not having enough time I'll make it, but here are some tips i always use when making my terrain.

1) Make bodies of water this way you know with how much terrain your working here
2) Make Mountains/Buildings in your case, so you know what boundaries you have in your land mass
3) Make the major doodads like quests that have caves, and stuff. These are the important doodads.
4) Minor Doodads, these will add flavor to your map, I usually just place trees, rocks around the map randomly at first and then I make little ponds with couple of trees and stuff.
5) Buildings, just place any building you might/know you will use
6) Units, put the units you need
7) Spellcasting system/Upgrade place/Other, these are the places that you will use to make upgrades and stuff.

Do this and you should be ok.

Hey, I'm making some terrain too and I'm not so good. What kind of doodads would you suggest for installation terrain?

SiLeNT ask Misteeq or Thrice happy.gif they might be good at these kind of terrains as well

Installation Mario bound...(If thats what you want)

Bounds don't really need doodads although some people make the terrain out of doodads.

If your making a bound don't worry about doodads, just use the Starforge Pallete and you just choose whatever tile you want.

For RPG or something like that in installation It's quite hard.
Use Normal Installation doodads it fits with the theme.
You can add tress, moss and stuff to make it look abandoned.
Use ashworld rocks and stufff to make it seem like there was some sort of cave-in.
Computers and stuff would be nice.

Installation is quite hard and somewhat limited terrain in the RPG world, mostly used when inside buildings.

EDIT:
To SiLeNT(U): Yoshi's Matrix map and Bolt's Forgoten city map's are in a city. You can get some ideas from there.

No, not the bound. tongue.gif I was thinking of starting an RPG, you're in a base, have to find this secret plans before other people do, 4 players are enemies. blink.gif

Then you should consider using the terrain like it was inside the base.
Make computers and mechanical stuff. Lots of hallways and a few big areas.

If it is abandoned use trees, moss, plants inside the base.

I'd be more than willing to do the terrain for someone who needs it, and can usually get it done in under a day, two at the most. Problem is, terrain is completely map dependant, so if you want help you're gonna have to detail EXACTLY what you want, what kind of map it is, and what kind of areas you will need.

No, no, that's fine, I'll do the terrain for the man, just... get back, SiLeNT loves me, I mean... trusts me the most, just back off, I got it covered. happy.gif

No way Xeno, besides I'm cooler biggrin.gif Plus I've got a system that will keep it within the bounds of what SiLeNT wants..

Step #1 SiLeNT makes his censored.gif ty terrain (Yea, it'll be really really censored.gif ty)

Step #2 I come in and make it look GoSu (Cause I am.)

Step #3 SiLeNT abandons the project, deletes the map, and I have lost my copy of my GoSu Terrain (o nos!)

Step #4 SiLeNT gave the terrain to some censored.gif head who steals it to make his own shoddy map that involves defending a town from zombies.

Uh... well I'll do the terrain but only if all that ever occurs are steps #1 and #2
