So one day I was thinking about melee maps, and making melee maps, and most of all screwing up balance on melee maps. So then the idea hit me, make a map that was purposefully unbalanced. Every starting location would be different ore/gas wise and terrain wise. The reason I thought this might be cool was to maybe teach people to expect the unexpected, so that they have to think like a madman. I thought this would be an interesting, but gusty, idea and I would appreciate your thoughts on it.

Well I'm just a little cautious because it seems to bother people enough that a map intended to be balanced isn't. Which usually leads to "gay map" "this is a noob map". Thanks for the encouragement though .

Honestly I can't say I would play and uneven game (more than a couple times). Melee maps are about compitition. If you don't start even the other player will blame that first instead of saying he sucked that game, or his partner is a noob. I think someone has already had this idea, but didn't think they could pull it off so they made a Phantom map.
The idea isn't bad, but you don't know how good it is untill you play the map. All I can say is test it ALOT, and expect the worst. It has to be evened out in some way though for example you could give the person with less resources a bottle neck enterance to their place and have the other person wide open.
IDK what to tell u really, this idea is risky, but GL to it and if you decide to do it tell me how it turns out.

Ya I would try to balance it out, I like that bottle neck idea to ; o. I knew it wouldn't be easy to make, as I know what people are like when they lose (or when they just think they are so "Ub3R" or w/e). They always like to flame stuff, that's why I presented it here. I'll get started on it asap after bandcamp or something maybe.

Well... Seems to me I've seen maps where people have said things like this in the Map Showcase, and they've all been dissaproved. The only reason I can see myself playing an imbalanced map is if I'm playing against my crappy friends (to give them half a chance).
