My decision is FINAL I will be making Escape Velocity for all you fans. This is a huge map and will require some really advanced triggers. If you are willing to help me with this huge project. I would be really happy for your help. And wouldn't it be nice to be in the credits of a map almost every mac user has been waiting for? I am sure alot of people have tried to make this map before, and most of the time probably failed. I have tried to make this map 3 times, but gave up because it was too big and complicated. This time I will not give up. I have mostly all the ideas for the map in my head, thinking of everything I can do.

Things that I know I would need help for are:
Square Tiles (since I got a mac, I can't do 1x1 tiles)
Sounds (I would really like to have the opening song and lots of sound effects for this game.)
If Escape Velocity turns out pretty good, I will further this with Escape Velocity Override!!

If you want to help, PM me or reply to this thread.

Thank you,
O)Matt_Burch

Not exactly sure what this map is about, considering you didn't post ANYTHING about it, but what the heck, I'll help you out if you need it.

Escape Velocity is an Ambrosia made game, (Made by Matt Burch -not me...-) But i intend to make it for StarCraft. Almost every longtime mac user has heard of EV. If you still don't know what Escape Velocity is about, read about it here.
Escape Velocity
I have made Apeiron, 3 times not 1 turned out not bad, and I will make it again. biggrin.gif
I want to make every Ambrosia game for StarCraft. And I want those games to be the best they can be.

meh w/e..

It was made for mac, then made for windows. A lot more mac users are playing it. but good point.

If you ask some1 if they have a mac, 1 in 20 would say they do. If you ask people with a mac if they played EV 9/10 will say they have. (from my statistics, (tried to start clan ambrosia once) )
I don't know how many windows users have played EV, it might be 1/20. so...
1/10 compared to 9/10 more mac users have most likely played EV.

What would you like me to say then?
What almost everyone has been waiting for?? thats like 2/20 people, the percentage is greater for mac than there is for windows. So I therefore used Mac not everyone, I would rather have 1 person complain to me than the other 18 wink.gif

Thank you for volunteering to help me, is there a way I can contact you on B.net??

im in "op Clan[O] @ USWest" most of my time
as the name "O)Matt_Burch"

ADDITION:
Well... for all you people who don't know what EV is I shall tell you tongue.gif

Summary: Escape Velocity is a game that spans a number of genres, combining elements of classic "trading" games, arcade space shoot-outs, and strategy simulations.

Ambrosia's introduction

Check your calendar: It's 2246, and the galaxy just isn't what it used to be. Spacefaring pirates roam free, civil war rages, and simple traders cheat death to make a living. Welcome to life in the 23rd century!
Ambrosia Software's Escape Velocity puts you smack-dab in the middle of that booming galaxy. As the captain of a shiny new spacecraft, you make your fortune and build your empire. If that sounds like a walk in the park, you're in for a surprise - dangers abound! Your lowly shuttle craft will need more than a little luck to make a profit... and survive.

Escape Velocity offers a rich and open-ended environment that evolves as you play. Over a hundred worlds occupy the galaxy, each with its own technology, alliances, and commodities. As you earn credits and gain fame, Confederation peace keepers and Rebel patriots struggle for power, leaving you in the middle.

Numerous sub-plots fill Escape Velocity's world; your choices affect the story's development, guaranteeing that each game will be different from the last. You'll have the opportunity to infiltrate hostile military bases, ferry emergency supplies to distant star systems, rescue passengers from stranded cruise ships, stop alien invaders, and more. In addition, Escape Velocity sports an open game engine. Future scenario designers will be able to create their own worlds for other players to explore...

Escape Velocity Somurries HERE

now for what I have done already and plan to do...

I'm a fan of StarCraft, and a fan of Ambrosia made games. I am an experienced map maker for starcraft. It is now time for Escape Velocity to be made for StarCraft. I will post updates of my progress of this map here, it is a big map, and won't be easy to make. If you would like to help I would greatly appreciate it. Right now I am thinking of having a 256x256 space terrain map. 16 square solar systems. Everything you do off the ship will be at the top, like buying new ships, buying outfits. Right now I have named every air unit for one of the ships from EV. I will use, Interceptors (set generic AI at command target) for missiles, Scourges for torpedoes, 3 wriaths (invisible) following you for every javelin rocket launcher you have, 1 scout following you invisible for every rocket launcher you have. The observer will be an escape pod. I will make your minerals your credit count, and your vespene gas, your number of jumps left. To make something a little different from this game and the real Escape Velocity, you choose a unit in the beginning. "Dash Riprock" (Jim Raynor (marine) ), "Rick Hardslab" (Alexi Stukov (ghost) ), "Stud Beefpile" (samir duran (Ghost ) ), and just to use the firebat "Andrew Welch" (Gui Montag (Firebat) ). So with these units and the number of crew of your ship, when you board a disabled ship, you get some ground action. having to kill the crew to take the stuff you want. You will have a limited ammount of time before the ship blows up. I will use random switches for the gambling.

This map will most likely be single player.

To tell which force owns a ship, I made each ship have a certain color. Confederate ships, will not be called "Confederate Cruiser" because i like to lap names so I will be using the colors to tell what kind it is. Blue back, and white front is "Confederate", red back, white front is "Rebel", green back, and white front is "Neutral"(like freighters and small fighters), white back, and white front is "Militia" (only the defender ) and white back, and grey front will be the "Pirate Class"

Named Ships:

Confederate
Patrol ship-Scout
Cruiser-BattleCruiser
Gunboat-Valkyrie
Frigate-Arbiter

Rebel
Cruiser-Carrier
Destroyer-Devourer
Manta-( I don't really know, I thinking an interceptor, but you can't just buy one of your own that way)

Neutral
Shuttlecraft-Shuttle
Courier-Sci Vessel
Light Freighter-Dropship
Argosy-Mutalisk (don't really know what else to put it as... maybe hero overlord)
Bulk Freighter-Overlord
Executive Transport-Hero Science Vessel
Scoutship-Hero Scout
Luxury Liner-Hero Overlord
Rapier-(don't know)

Pirates
Clipper-Wraith
Kestrel-Hyperion (hero battlecruiser)
lightning-hero wraith
Corvette-Hero Scout

Aliens
Alien Fighter-(maybe a scourge if i make torpedo something else)
Alien BattleCruiser-queen

Units ranked according to this following website, with some exceptions.
I didn't bother with a fighters class or a warships class.
I am getting a ton of information from this site

I would really like to have some good quality sounds from EV like the "opening music", the "drums", and that sound after you create a "new ship"

If you help out I would most definately put you in the credits. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please reply.

I've been thinking about making an EV map for a while now, and though the same reasons that kept me from making it on my own (lack of time and attention span) mean that I don't think I can really help you much with actually making this, maybe we could compare notes sometime on game systems...I'm usually on USEast, so that'd be your best bet for reaching me.
