Anybody figured out how to make a permanently cloaked spellcaster.
It isn't possible as of yet, maybe when firegraft comes out...
Thanks. Now I hope I don't lose anybodies respect with this question but why does starcraft crash every time I use a spell that I give to a unit with stargraft/memgraft.
i.e. Jim Raynor (Marine) trying to cast Lockdown
The buttoning seems perfect, and I have set the Tech Usage requirements, but...
I must be missing a step, because I can't get any to work (except giving Zeratul Stimpacks), they all either do nothing, or crash the game when cast.
I am an experienced map designer, but am just starting to mod.
I would upload the patch but it does not look like I am allowed to.
Thanks for any help. I have read and followed every tutorial I can find.
Did you remember to give them an SpAbility2 iscript animation? That could be the cause of the crash....
Just look at a spellcasters script and basically copy it...most of them just need a couple of changes, mainly on the playfram commands to work for other units.
Thanks guys, that did the trick. I knew it must be iscript, but no tutorials on the subject mention it.
It must not necessarily involve iscripting, you can alter the orders.dat for the Lockdown order not to use the spAbility2 animation at all
Yeah. I forgot about that. Most people don't ever touch orders.dat
However, glad that worked. nope not yet, maybe soon though if another mod tool comes out. but most of these kind of things just crash the game, i tried making a templar doing ensnare, lol it crashed it
That's because orders.dat doesn't need to be used for that. What you need is Ice/IceCC and Memgraft....
As for my other comment, I guess it's somewhat an internal joke, since I'm the one who messes with orders.dat the most.
You're not just one of the "most people",aye?
I make it a point to be unique. That's why I went after the exe when I started SC modding.
On a side note, what I'd like to do(but don't have time), is to change the casting animation for one of the queens spells and see how it works out. Maybe try giving it to another unit via memgraft(along with the queen), but not actually casting it. I think there's some useful things that can be done with it....but unfortunately, I can't try them out yet.
Ok guys you seem to know what you are doing. What if there was a way around the whole cloak problem. I am thinking...
1: Subunit(like scarab) with arbiter cloaking field or some trick with the arbiter cloak
2: Use of the "disable doodad state" bug on map load to make a unit cloaked with triggering.
I will play with them.
