Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Tie-In SC X-tra editor with Starforge

Ok I'm trying to get a feel for Starforge, but I'm really used to Starcraft X-Tra editor because I've been using it for quite a while now. Unit placement seems unfamiliar because they're placed on grids. 2nd I dont know what is up with the Tank Turrets, and Goliath Turrets.

Also the Terrain holds an unusual feel, with grid terrain. Is there a way to use the classical Terrain from X-tra Editor, and the Grid Terrain together?

I also dont know what sprites are in the Editor, (I know its a noobish question I'm really sorry) I am really confused because the triggers are unfamiliar and dont have a list of locations to choose from.

Can someone help me?

1) You can turn off "snap to grid"

2) You don't need to place the turrets. Just the bases. However, if you want to change damage of tanks/goliaths you change it in the turret.

3) You can use StarForge Isom, but it doesn't work very well. I personally prefer SCMD for terrain.

4) Sprites are basically the images that StarCraft uses. This ranges from a unit sprite to a doodad. StarForge allows you to place these without actually having any properties.

I've been in the map making buisiness for 3 years, I'm not actually new to map making though. But I am new to Starforge, and working with it is like living in a new house. (ok maybe that's a bad example)

ive been map making for shortly under a year and i find that on a normal map id use xtra editor for triggers and Starforge for terrain (or xtra for isom) however lately ive been working on maps requiring slightly more tedius unit placing and what not so im using starforge to do triggers because its so easy to do and then SCMDraft for organizing triggers, copying triggers and other crap that starforge doesnt like to do (unit properties being one)

so yeah triggering is pretty simple

a list on the right hand side shows ur condition or action

u type an action in then put a (
Example
Bring(

then ull get a list slightly above of what u need to fill out
Example
Bring(player,comparison,number,unit,location);

the trigger would then be set out something like

Bring(Currentplayer,Atleast,1,Marine,Anywhere);

then the same for actions

remembr the ); at the end

and erm for stuff like comments its

Comment("My Comment");

and yeah that shud help maybe iunno but i think its pretty basic to understand
