uhh , just wondering if the author of extra edit special v. meant it to be used as a square editor or did it just happen random?? because im having fun making square terrain with it lol , and its much easier and faster then scm and stuff like that!

Uhh, it usually doesn't. That probably means, you used something to get rid of the isometrics and have square terrain now.

Umm... SCXE can't use Square terrain.
The only way is to use a map that already has square terrain, but it would be screwed up.

U cant have square terrain in SCXE, and u can't open maps that have square terrain. It'll just give u an error message tongue.gif

wha? no it won't. you can use square terrain if it has been modified with square terrain before. but it's not very good, why use xtra editor for terrain? if Starforge is for only one thing, it's the terrain edtior so go use that instead! cool1.gif

There was an utility called ISOM that "corrupted" the map so staredit placed square terrain instead of the isometrical one. It was extremely hard to make it look good and SF/SCMD2 are 999999999 times easier.

I suspect that you created or edited the map in StarForge and then used SC X-tra. However, the terrain editing X-tra then does is odd and you can't select many choices. StarForge is still faster though, and it is more accurate...

You can modified square terrain (if it in your map) with Star Edit:)

Hmm yea X-tra will use sqaure terrain whne oyu use SF or SCM for square terrain but its 99999999 times harder with X-tra.

Starforge Versions before 2.0 did not preserve the ISOM seciton. There for Staredit was incapable of making Isometric terrain after a map was saved in it.

The problem was fixed after 2.0

PS. I got pretty good at making Terrain using ISOM (that is sqaure terrain i star edit). You spend more time actually tracing back over your tracks than you spend actually making the terrain.

Yeah, I was very good too. I have some maps with square terrain made by ISOM and staredit that have 0 bugs in the terrain. You got some tricks, like combinations for remove bugs, but anyway it was time consuming.

Can you have more that 255 locations in star forge?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Clokr_ on 2004-07-30 at 20:45:47
No, that's impossible. Hardcoded stuff.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2004-07-30 at 21:19:00
You can move locations with observers and make it seem like you got more than 255.

I believe there was a bound made with only one location??
