Unfortunatly, I don't overclock any of my hardware because I don't have a good cooling system sad.gif

But sooner or later I'll get an AMD Athlon 3800x2 and OC that like 300 mhz higher smile.gif

You can get a program to do this for you.. http://www.filehippo.com/download_everest_home/

Nah, unless you count a 2.4GHz processor running at 2420MHz

I have a friend that spent $300 on liquid nitrogen cooling and overclocked like crazy though.

I would definately recommend getting a new video card.. tongue.gif

And yeah, I saw a video that showed how to assemble a liquid nitrogen cooling system, and overclocked like a 3 ghz Pentium 4 to 7 ghz, I think. I wouldn't want my computer around that stuff though, much less would I want that stuff around me.

I don't even like water coolers... 1 leak and your motherboard will die sad.gif

How do you overclock something?

Basically, you go into your BIOS or use a program that edits your BIOS in order to make your hardware operate faster, etc. But if you don't cool it properly, or you don't do it correctly, bad stuff will happen.

Unless you know what you're doing, and have a nice cooled tower, I wouldn't recommend trying it. And some hardware is more overclockable than others. A good example would be an Opteron.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2006-07-08 at 22:59:06
Overclocking will wear down your equipment faster or even break some parts such as video cards. I think overclocking voids most warrantys too.
